Summary

The Legion has landed....

The Republic world of Kima has fallen with shocking speed to the renewed forces of the Mid-Core Rebellion, and General Chhun must lead the rebuilt and enhanced 131st Legion - along with Marines, Dark Ops, Navy, and Kimbrin Resistance - onto the planet to violently check their assault.

But timing is of the essence, and Chhun can’t do it alone. Bear, working undercover, unearths the treachery of a resurgent Nether Ops still working their dark influence from the shadows. Masters has his hands full just staying alive while he evades deadly pursuers. And Keel finds himself swept up in intrigues that may make the planetary takeover of Kima all but insignificant.

The battle is fierce and hard, but victory is always within reach so long as the Legion - remade to its initial purpose - remains to fight.

The first GE audiobook, that i did not enjoy at all

Too much technicalities, way too much details, and a serious disapointment compared to the other books. The whole book focuses on one single event, that i fail to see the significance regarding the overall story. Offers nothing about the previous main characters, such as Prisma, etc.
Don't get me wrong, it would make a great spinoff book, but in my opinion this is way too little to be a true sequel to those previous books.
Bray did an excellent job though, as always.

good not great

less time explaining all thr weapons systems and more time on KTF and character development. Half this book is just explaining Weapons systems and endless squad comms banter. This is not the USA marines, these are legionaries a bit more professionalism would be good. When in doubt think what would Rex say on the comms and write that. like in the book the 100.

Great narration, but …

The narration by RC Bray as great as ever.
The story line has opened up some context on a number of characters but the lengthy and micro details of the battle screens got a bit bogged down and could skip a chapter or two without missing much of the story.

Great series but.

Firstly I love this series and recommend it to everyone.
this book however is hard, it flip flops between too many new characters in a balls to the wall book that has no time for thr brain to process.

I didn't get it

After so many books building up such suspense with the characters and such a great storyline running in the background, I don't get the last 2 books! it's a random war with characters I've no connection with which made it just a background book rather than listening to hanging on every word. the narrator is awesome as always but I just didn't get the point of the story... may have to listen again at some point but I may have come to the point where my favorite book series has lost a bit of interest for me

To much battle

As others have said, to much battle scenes with new characters (who I wasn't invested) in became confusing.

Frustrating..

Start with how much I love the series, characters and plot lines.... However, quite disappointed at the hours and hours of fighting description with so many new characters it was hard to care about. (with the exception of 'Bubbles', who was genius). Like an endless car chase in a film, becomes boring, boring, boring.
I know it's military sci-fi genre, but the 'big boys adventure fantasy' is not my reason for liking the series... The best books here balance the politics, characters, story arc, and the fighty stuff. Remains falls down here and is more frustrating than anything.... There were good things in parts, and I can appreciate how aspects of this battle will add to the wider arc... But too much shooty stabby, for far too long.
Looking forward to next... Soon as possible please lads.

Contractual Obligation

First.. The good things.. RC Bray, as usual, is fantastic... And that's it. A nothing story that doesn't advance the general story in any way. The authors probably had to churn out something in a tight time frame under pressure from the publisher.. Or some such reason. Because this was empty of anything... Spoiler Alert. Legion goes to a planet, kills the bad guys, the end.. A credit that will certainly be refunded.. A pity as I enjoy the serious but this was a waste of time.

Uninteresting, I'd give this a miss

Book is more or less a single battle. It features characters who I struggled to recall from previous books, so found it hard to visualise who was doing anything. Descriptions were a bit light on detail at times so again hard to really make a picture of what was going on.

Pretty much only finished it because I like listening to R C Bray. The story was something I just didn't care about.
