About this listen
Tom Hollander stars in the complete award-winning comedy series, as seen on BBC TV.
Tom Hollander (‘In the Loop’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’) stars as the Rev Adam Smallbone. He’s a Church of England vicar, newly promoted from a sleepy rural parish to the inner-city world of St Saviour’s in east London. It is a world he has little experience of, and it shows.
In this series, Adam’s church gets a makeover, complete with plasma screens and a smoothie bar, Adam researches some poledancers and then succumbs to envy when he hears an old rival on ‘Thought for the Day’.
Adam’s new ‘bromance’ with Leon comes to a crashing halt at an embarrassing vicarage dinner party. Adam also has a crisis of faith and then gets drunk at a Vicars and Tarts party...
Co-created by Tom Hollander and James Wood, this divine comedy soundtrack also stars Olivia Colman (‘Peep Show’), Miles Jupp (‘Mock the Week’), Lucy Liemann (‘Reggie Perrin’), with guest appearances by Hugh Bonneville and Alexander Armstrong.

So comical
Loved it, the actors were superb, and well known, made me laugh, groan and rolled my eyes at the hapless Vicar //!

great stuff, when is series 2 out on audio?
Works brilliantly in audio format, I think you pick up different elements of the comedy without the pictures.

Very good
A good listen and just as good as TV series. A story full of awkward moments and those days when everyone gets out of bed on the wrong side! Very human tale and anyone who serves others would have great empathy for Vic.

loved the TV programme, but ....
loved the TV programme, doesn't translate well to audio. Such a shame, but there's obviously too much done visually in the programme, felt i missed out on plot details.

It's a TV programme not an audio book
I might be in the minority here but this production is frustrating as heck! I bought it thinking it was an audio book or radio play - but it’s not. It’s an audio track of a TV show. I paid for an audio track of a BBC TV production I technically already paid for through the license fee i pay.
This isn’t a comment on the actors or writers so it’s hard to fit into the star rating but…
Why a low rating.... this has periods of music and gaps where there is obvious action going you can’t see.
It's a TV production made for TV. If it was faulty towers or Blackadder I can get the logic of isolating the audio track of well known classics for fans but I’d never heard of this sitcom.
Please audible - stop doing this.
