Summary

High-flying trader Dean Harrison has it all: the London penthouse apartment, the fast car, the beautiful wife. But when the threads of Dean’s life start to unravel, they do so with alarming speed. Following the advice of a frail stranger, Dean sets off for Welnetham Hall Hotel and is plunged into the mysterious world of room 119 - a world where nothing makes sense. How does everyone in the hotel know his name? Why does he travel there on a train line that shut down over 50 years ago? And who is the sinister man in black who pursues him wherever he goes? As he gradually pieces together the puzzle of Welnetham Hall, Dean is forced to reevaluate his life and realizes that nothing is more important to him than his wife and daughter. Desperate to get back to them, he vows he would lay down his life for the people he loves. It’s a promise he may have to keep.

Rrom 119

3.5 Stars

I enjoyed this genre-defying tale that spans thriller, mystery and supernatural with ease! After a bit of a slow start and wondering if I could get behind the rogue-ish character of Dean, it took a huge swerve into the most unexpected direction and I found myself getting behind Dean!

A rollercoaster ride with a good heart that will definitely stretch your imagination.

will stay with you for some time to come

Having read this book last year, I was pleased to see it being released on audiobook. This is an excellent story and the characters memorable. Where some of the dialogue from the book was quite clunky when reading (authors first book so can be forgiven), the narrator smoothes this out and makes it more enjoyable. Will stay with you for some time to come.

Extraordinary! Amazing! Brilliant!

Having previously listened to , Funicular, I started this book with high exoectations and I wasn't disappointed. The book starts fairly straightforwardly, but this is a Trevor Lince book so soon we are in the mysterious world of Room 119 of the Welnetham Hall Hotel and everything is turned on it's head and nothing is quite as it seems.

Dean is a fantastic character. When the book starts he is a high-flying city trader who's life suddenly spirals out of control. But he never forgets his roots in the north-east, and although he has neglected his family he still loves them. Will he get a second chance? You can't pigeonhole this book into any genre. It has mystery, fantasy and romance. It had me laughing and crying in equal measure. There are so many wonderful moments in the book but they are so difficult to talk about without giving spoilers, but I have to say I loved the wedding scene.

This is an extraordinary book with an amazing ending. It really is unputdownable. Just brilliant!

Beautiful story

Wow! I loved this audiobook. It’s ultimately a story about love and how life can get in the way sometimes and we have to remember what’s important. I loved the story or a trader who after making a huge error not just in his private life and work life ends up in room 119 at a hotel that no one seems to know about. I won’t spoil the story but it is a beautiful and at some times sad story or a man realising hopefully before it’s too late what matters most in the world.

Wow! Just WOW!

WOW! I absolutely LOVED this book! I wasn't sure where it was going after listening to the first chapter but that is essential background and necessary for the reader (or listener in my case) to fully appreciate the story.

This book has everything - it is part thriller, part fantasy, part love story and with the best twisty turny plot I've read in a long time. There are maybe 5 books I've read in my life that have made me audibly gasp at an event in the story and this book is one of them. I'm not going to retell the plot - there are lots of other reviews that do that well enough and I always say that I don't want to spoil anything for readers checking what it is like before buying.

My advice to anyone hesitating is BUY IT! Right now and lose yourself in Trevor Lince's masterpiece. Easily my favourite Audible listen of 2019 and I listen to A LOT of books. I gave it to my 93 year old Mum to listen to after I'd finished and she loved it too.

Can't wait to read more from Mr Lince!

Brilliant

I read this book a while back and it stuck with me for ages afterwards so I knew i would love the audible version. I was not disappointed, the narrator really brings the book to life and added extra dimensions to it

An intriguing mystery

I loved this book, it was a refreshing change to my usual genre. It had an innovative plot, moves along at a good pace and the characters spring to ‘life’. It’s a book that will stay with me for a while.
