About this listen

Did you know that the gods can use mobile phones?

They can, and Odin has a message for Conrad....

Conrad Clarke, former RAF pilot and alleged gangster, gets a text – and a visit – from The Allfather.

Odin has a challenge for Conrad: Sign up to protect England from wild magick and get a commission in the King’s Watch.

All he has to do is find a missing witch. Simple.

Conrad never could resist a challenge. Before you can say “Ragnarok”, he’s plunged into a world of gods, mages, witches, dwarves, and one very aggressive giant mole.

But the witch doesn’t want to be found, and powerful mages will kill to keep her hidden. Going back isn’t an option. Going forward looks a lot like death.

Armed with nothing but a sense of humor and a willingness to cheat, Conrad has to find the Witch and save his life.

Superbly narrated by Ciaran Saward, the first two books of the King’s Watch are now available in audio format.

Treat yourself to a copy now and experience a whole new universe of magick. And moles....

An entertaining and engaging tale

Well written, weaving folklore, history and mythology into an entertaining plot with characters that you can 'root' for.
I hadn't heard of this series prior to it appearing in my recommendations. But have thoroughly enjoyed both the storyline and vocal performance from the narrator.
I've read and listened to numerous books of this genre and would suspect that fans of Caimh Mcdonnell's Stranger Times series, Heide Goodie' Odd Jobs series, GS Dennings Warlock Holmes etc would also enjoy this

loved it

this is not the usual run of the mill teen hero fantasy. it has something of the Peter Grant about it but it's more sophisticated. I loved it. stay with it at first, you'll be glad you did.

Great book

A future classic of its genre, witty and clever but with an interesting dark side.

Most Enjoyable

If you enjoy urban fantasy I believe you’ll enjoy this book. Reminiscent of the ‘Rivers of London’ series.
I have already purchased the next in the series.
Good job with the narration as well.

Been waiting for this.

I think that I have read all the authors published works, but this is the first that I read of them.
Unfortunately those I wished to press it upon don't read.
It's a odd book and series, especially given Conrad's past history in other books. That doesn't prevent it being great fun.
One other review complained about a robot voice, it's deliberate. The thing speaking looks more like R2D2 than any animal, has few recognisable emotions and is made out of rock!

Still, if you came to this book from the authors other work you might well be shocked. Especially as Conrad carries through into this series, as does another character in a later book in this series, not yet available.
