Story
When Arthur and Rose were little, they were heroes in the Land of Roar, an imaginary world that they found by climbing through the folding bed in their grandad’s attic. Roar was filled with things they loved - dragons, mermaids, ninja wizards and adventure - as well as things that scared them (including a very creepy scarecrow).... Now the twins are 11, Roar is just a memory. But when they help Grandad clean out the attic, Arthur is horrified as Grandad is pulled into the folding bed and vanishes. Is he playing a joke? Or is Roar...real?

Willow Moss, the youngest and least powerful sister in a family of witches, has a magical ability for finding lost things - like keys, or socks, or wooden teeth. Useful, but not exactly exciting. Then the most powerful witch in the world of Starfell turns up at Willow’s door and asks for her help. A whole day - last Tuesday to be precise - has gone missing. Completely. And, without it, the whole universe could unravel. Now Willow holds the fate of Starfell in her rather unremarkable hands. Can she save the day - by finding the lost one?

Summary
'Adventures are unpredictable and often terribly badly behaved - a bit like pickled onions if you’ve ever tried to fork one on a plate - but they have a way of unlocking people and turning them upside down so that all the astonishing things fizzing around inside them start to tumble out....'
Eleven-year-old Casper Tock hates risks, is allergic to adventures and shudders at the thought of unpredictable events. So, it comes as a nasty shock to him when he accidentally stumbles into Rumblestar, an Unmapped Kingdom full of magical beasts.
All Casper wants is to find a way home, but Rumblestar is in trouble. An evil harpy called Morg is sending her followers, the Midnights, into the kingdom to wreak havoc and pave the way for her to steal the Unmapped magic for herself. But Casper cannot turn a blind eye because the future of his own world, he discovers, is bound up with that of the Unmapped Kingdoms.
And so, together with Utterly Thankless, a girl who hates rules and is allergic to behaving, and her miniature dragon, Arlo, Casper embarks upon an adventure full of cloud giants, storm ogres and drizzle hags. Can he, Utterly and Arlo, the unlikeliest of heroes, save the Unmapped Kingdoms and our world from the clutches of Morg and her Midnights?
Live a life filled with adventure with Abi Elphinstone in this brand-new series where a whole new world is waiting to be discovered....

Rumblestar is a book full of adventure, emotions and magic.
Abi Elphinstone has a way with words that makes your heart ache when there’s sorrow in Rumblestar but also exhilaration when there’s happiness.

Phenomenal!
This was absolutely fantastic! After reading the Prologue you just know this is going to be an amazing story, and my goodness it proved to be more than amazing. When I read/listened to this I got the same feelings as when I read The Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell and the same feelings as watching The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe - this was truly a magical and wonderful story; the world building was so detailed and mind blowing, and the characters so loveable! I especially loved Arlo the miniature Dragon and Zip the Captain of the SkySoar9000! Thoroughly enjoyed this and I can't wait to read the rest of the series! Very highly recommend! (The narration by Nicky Diss was wonderful too.)

An interesting romp
Hmm…
Did I enjoy this?
Eventually.
Did I get into the story quickly?
No, not really.
Did I identify with the characters?
Meh, Kind of.
Did I feel like there was something familiar all the way through?
Yes.
Did I realise it was very similar to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe?
Yes, when there was piece towards the end which was pretty much a direct quote.

“The Dragon, the Harpy and the Grandfather Clock”
It’s an adventurous romp, it has some decent parts, but I never felt fully invested in the world or the story.
