About this listen
From USA Today best seller Wendy Vella comes an exciting Regency series about legend, love, and destiny, with a hint of magic…
Legend says the Sinclairs' heightened senses are a result of a long ago pact between them and the powerful Raven family. To honor and protect is their creed, but the current Duke of Raven doesn’t make their task easy.
Arrogant and aloof, James, Duke of Raven, is determined to forge his own path, and to hell with folk tales that his ancestors created. But when the breathtaking Eden Sinclair saves his life by risking her own, their past resurfaces, and with it comes the uncomfortable realization that they are linked by more than history.
Eden is forced to see the man behind the cool, haughty façade when she must use her special abilities to keep him safe. His suspicion of her soon turns into something else, something far more dangerous. Eden is torn between duty and self-protection. Does she have the strength to fight fate in order to protect her own heart?

Something different
This historical romance has everything a listener could want. Fantasy, anger, jealousy, attempted murder, all brought together in this well written novel. The narrator always brings the males in the stories to life really well but is not quite so good with women but an excellent listen.

nice first book in this series
I enjoyed this book mainly because it had a different kind of story..... not telling so you have to listen to it yourself.
Very good and hopefully the next will be a good one......

Boring!
Struggled to finish this one. Narrative was monotonous and didn't lift the story up, such as it was. I couldn't empathise with the characters and did in fact fall asleep part way through. Sorry Ms Vella

Not for me.
The book had an irresistible to me combination of love, danger and a little bit of magic. It started well and I was hoping that, this new to me author, will become one of my favourites. Sadly the "too many adjectives" syndrome took over and the "sweet" became "sickly sweet". The sex scenes, which is the requisite of modern writing, were thrown in most haphazardly. The popular narrator did the usual breathy job and I had to increase the speed to make it more palatable.
Sorry, but I shall not continue with this author.
