Summary
Richard Sharpe, who alone can recognise the top French spy, is under orders to capture him alive.
Richard Sharpe is once again at war. But this time his enemy is just one man - the ruthless Colonel Leroux. Sharpe's mission is to safeguard El Mirador, a spy whose network of agents is vital to British victory.
Sharpe is forced into a new world of political and military intrigue. And in unfamiliar surroundings of aristocratic Spanish society, his only guide is La Marquesa - a woman with her own secrets to conceal.…
Soldier, hero, rogue - Sharpe is the man you always want on your side. Born in poverty, he joined the army to escape jail and climbed the ranks by sheer brutal courage. He knows no other family than the regiment of the 95th Rifles whose green jacket he proudly wears.
Critic reviews
"Bernard Cornwell is a literary miracle. Year after year, hail, rain, snow, war and political upheavals fail to prevent him from producing the most entertaining and readable historical novels of his generation." ( Daily Mail)
"Cornwell's narration is quite masterly and supremely well-researched." ( Observer)
"The best battle scenes of any writer I've ever read, past or present. Cornwell really makes history come alive." (George R.R. Martin)

The Power of Lust and Treachery
Rupert Farley is a wonder as always in his mastery of the story and of cause Richard, well, is Richard. My only slight criticism was during "The Battle of Salamanca", and this would only be if you had any knowledge, was the initial development on the French left. But hey it is Fiction, isn't it?

Another excellent audiobook
I have loved these books for years, and I love the narrator's reading of them. It's just how it sounded in my head (except he's better at the accents!)

Near Death
This is onetime that Richard Shape is beaten and is so near to death. Sharpe still gets the girl.

Yet another great Sharpe story, brilliantly narrated by Rupert Farley, nobody plays each character like he does.

Brilliantly written and superbly narrated
What made the experience of listening to Sharpe's Sword: The Salamanca Campaign, June and July 1812 the most enjoyable?
Like most followers of Sharpe, I have read all the books and watched the series. Audio books from Audible adds a new level of enjoyment not least because Rupert Farley is supreme. Voices, accents ... a joy to listen to. Only three left! What then?
What other book might you compare Sharpe's Sword: The Salamanca Campaign, June and July 1812 to, and why?
