Summary

The first complete audio recording in English of the spiritual text of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib with beautiful, soothing background music. This relaxing recording enables an English-speaking audience to understand and experience the spiritual wisdom of the Sikh faith.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is more than just a scripture. The Sikhs regard and respect the Granth (holy book) as their living Guru. The revealed holy text spans 1,430  pages and contains the actual words spoken by the founders of the Sikh religion (Six of the Ten Gurus of Sikhism).

The Sikh Gurus not only incorporated their own writings but also included the writings of another 30 saints from different religions, places and times.

These songs are set to 31 different musical scales, called ragas, that evoke the feelings of  different times of day, different emotions and the seasons of the year. The English translation used for the recording is by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa, Phoenix,  Arizona, USA.

Wisdom, relationship with God and self control

Each page contains the wisdom to find ways to be close to one universal God, be Guru-Mukh (God centred) and not be Mann-Mukh (self centred) and have complete submission to God beyond mere words snd practices.

It’s a pleasure and a blessing to hear this scripture.

To find these Sikh scriptures was unexpected and pleasing, that little pleasure of a gift unexpected, a little gift Yule morning before the main celebrations wrapped and mellow. That feeling was then let me double check what I’m reading here, oh yes! It is the Sikh holy book. I’ve definitely going to listen and allow what may come in mind and heart. It’s what I hoped in content and theology. I follow my own path but it’s correct to hear and acknowledge the words of our brothers and sisters in their spiritual physical path, it brings wisdom to our own paths and clearer communication with the many theologies of the world. Compassion and awareness shared. As for my view and review of the word itself, it was fulfilling and inspiring, plus very beneficial in a meditation session or two. As for more that’s for you to decide. The vocals and subtle tones in the background are melodic and has a echo of the way Hebrew Torah is read out loud in a rhythmic semi song. I personally focused on the string tones in the background and allowed the words to flow in and be contemplated rather than having my focus directly on every aspect of the voice and what it’s doing. As I have slightly different and personal preferences in voice and sing song wording poetic scripture. So hearing but not doing the hearing, I hear the strings sitar and the words are heard within. So it was a privilege to purchase this book. Thank you Sikhnet for making an English language version available for your family and it thus be available for the extended family like me who has friends who are Sikh but not had the accessibility in such a fully accessible and maintainable media. Blessings 🙏🏼

for life, beautifully read,

Pause. 🤣

Long. In a nut shell, find the true name of the lord. The readers keep reading the word Pause, instead of taking a pause.
Hearing this for that many hours made me chuckle.

Doesn’t ring with life in my ears, sorry.

Like any religious text I feel it is not my place to talk about the content of the text.

I feel I can comment a little on the delivery. It was read very calmly in a measured way. However I did find the quality of the audio was less than I would have expected. The intonation seemed clear, but, there was a lack of audio clearness I expect with an audio book. The sound was dull and muffled to my ear, So much so, I gave up after 9 chapters of trying.
