About this listen
Are you ready to be a contender? Sly's action-oriented program for getting fit and eating right is a revealing portrait of one of Hollywood's biggest slaves
Sly Moves - part candid autobiography, part nuts-and-bolts training manual, part motivational handbook - is a refreshingly sensible guide to getting immediate results that last a lifetime. It's also a provocative inside look at the trials of a body-conscious star rising in the most image-conscious industry in the world.
The truth is, Sly's personal battle to stay in shape has been as tough as any fight he's waged on screen. The book begins with a very personal history of Sylvester Stallone's famous physique, as the Rocky star shares never-before-told stories about his being bullied as a child, finding comfort and strength in the gym, and then later, the wild ride of fad diets, crash-training regimens and workout disasters that fringed on obsession. Sly knows what works and what definitely doesn't, and these experiences formed Sly's unique fitness and nutrition plan. Part 2 consists of Sly's program for getting physically fit without sacrificing life’s other pleasures. All he requires is three hours a week - that's all Sly needs - for a total body workout, an engaging regimen involving all the major muscle groups and aerobic fitness. The step-by-step program includes four different levels of exercise: classic, advanced, women’s, and for those who dare, The Sly Challenge, a hardcore session pushing it to the max.
Sly has tried every diet imaginable and so in the Sly Moves nutrition plan he highlights a unique meal plan for a lifetime of good eating. He offers his unique perspective on what works and what doesn’t and offers an alternative for health-conscious readers who want great-tasting satisfying food that can become a way of life. The section Gonna Fly Now inspires and encourages listeners to make Sly Moves part of a long-term picture of health, fitness and well-being. This motivational section includes separate chapters on everything from setting and keeping goals to relaxation techniques to lessons learned from his reality-based boxing show The Contender.

Good book, useful simple insights and entertaining to listen to. I recommend it as a good diet book for sure and semi autobiographical

Brilliant!, interesting and packed full of wisdom.
From start to finish this book is truly brilliant. Its brilliant in the sense that it is well written and extremely interesting, once you start you wont want to stop listening. The book is packed full of wisdom that Stallone has clearly gathered from his long, amazing and colourful career.
The book is semi autobiographical and because many of us have grown up watching Stallone in films it really helps us as the reader / listener to connect with him, it adds a dimension of warmth to the book.
Regardless of age or sex anybody can follow the practical guidance within this book .

Very Helpful
If you’re a personal trainer or someone who is just into bodybuilding, you already know this stuff; but it’s good to listen/read content that reaffirms and validates what you know. It serves as an entertaining reminder and validation for what you’re doing or advising clients to do. I particularly liked how Sly talks about his use of visualisation to achieve his goals. Again, if you know anything about how the mind and matter are related, you know this already - that you literally become what you think about - but having a testimony to confirm and validate this is helpful and motivating/encouraging. It’s a good read for both beginners and pros.

Surprisingly decent!
The book IS a good reminder of how to do things the right way. One could say it's simple, but it really covers all the basics necessary to know how to deal with nutrition, training, and plan general goals for your life.
You could perhaps get all the info in bullet points and 20 pages would do. But again, it's 20 pages you really should really.
If you are a fan of Stallone's, it won't disappoint either. It goes into detail about how he shaped his body from movie A to B. It won't give you the specific workouts, but you'll get a good idea of goals, challenges, and overall Stallone's trivia. The lack of specific workouts is the only thing this book is missing. Apparently a booklet comes with the physical version of the audiobook, but Audible hasn't uploaded any extra material. Maybe it's there??
If you a fan of Stallone's but not into fitness, read it.
If you're starting to get into fitness, read it, too.

Enjoyed but very short
I’m a huge sly fan and enjoyed this and most fans will however the fact that you can’t see the stuff that’s in the published book makes it kind of a bum deal. I loved some of the real life stories and whilst the majority of us will never have a body anywhere remotely like slys it is a listen that does motivate you to do something and believe things / improvement is achievable

Very enjoyable if you’re a Stallone fan
Principles are basic but reaffirming. He didn’t tell me anything I didn’t know however it was enjoyable for his stories and motivating, from someone of his fitness and background, he makes you feel like your goals are attainable and starting small and keeping going is the best way. If you’re prone to fad diets and mad exercise plans you don’t stick to then his advise and experience is invaluable. I’d have liked more on the fitness and weight lifting, he goes into far more detail on nutrition dos and donts. Also, very short. Read well but would have preferred Sly to have read it! Still pleased I listened though, the man’s a legend.
