amazing must read
Love that it's narrated by them but what I love most is the sentiment. Recognising and explaining how neurodivergent people may struggle and (perhaps more importantly) how this can so badly impact them and providing ways to live with better self beliefs and understanding.
All people should listen to this but especially those who know someone neurodivergent.
This will be a repetition book for me, listening over and over throughout my life.

Thank you Rich and Rox for your raw honesty.
These beautiful people have shared their experiences with the world to help us neurodivergents share our hidden inner worlds with the people we love in the hope that we can truly accept ourselves. I wish neurotypical people would listen to this book so they can have a small window in to the chaos that is a ND brain. I laughed and cried with them. Sending love and please continue your inspirational journey!

The honesty of the book
As someone who just been diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 47, I had pre-ordered this book and when it arrived I managed to get through the first couple of chapters with quite a few tears. But then me being I put the book down and just couldn’t find the right time to pick it up again. Instead I got the audio book to listen too and what can I say, what a fantastic and humbling book this is. Like my recent test (100% on inattentive type) all the chapters of the book resonated with me. What really hit hard is there being Rich to show and model how someone without ADHD can support someone with ADHD. I am hoping my wife will read this as it really is a very good peak under the hood of what it means to be me.
Thank you so much both of you for your bravery and openness to share this journey with us.

A must listen for anyone who's struggling with ADHD.
Like their previous book Dirty Laundry this stands out for me in the way in which it's an immensely personal account, as opposed to the myriad books which can be dry and borderline if not outright academic.
Broken up into ten common lies that ADHDers tell themselves it follows a simple but hugely effective strategy of describing what that feels like to live narrated by Rox, and then advice and experience on how to assist with that in a positive way from Rich.
I've listened a couple of times now, and will definitely again. Not just from the perspective of finally hearing someone sincerely saying it's alright to be me, but also practical advice on how to start undoing that damage, but also on how I can support my kids, and students.
The tone of voice and delivery brings a warts and all sincerity that goes a very long way to not tripping off the RSD which is often triggered by a lot of other books on the subject.
Thank you.

So constructive and kind!
I will read this again. Together with loved ones and to remind myself. It might be the most helpful adhd/asd-book I’ve ever read. Emotionally comforting, validating and constructive. Eyeopening and radical in its view on neurodivergence. I love it, for its laughs and its crying. I will both laugh and cry a lot more to this book.

Being kind to ourselves and others.
Helped me understand RSD. Not pleasing others all the time is OK. The chapter where Rox says about neurotypicals don’t usually get put down for things like not being creative or not being empathetic but NDs are criticised for losing things or being late etc was interesting . Can’t wait to listen to it again. Dirty Laundry was an eye opener but SmallTalk offers much more. Can’t believe how open they both are about their flaws and how they make it work better through love and understanding.

Just this…….
This isn’t just a read if you are neurodivergent, live with a neurodivergent or know a neurodivergent person…… this is a read to inform you, to enlighten you and to give you an understanding to support people around you. Thank you, once again, for therapy in book form, for the supportive hugs through your words 🙏

Thank you Rich and Rox
My whole life I have believed that I was different. That one day everyone around me would realise I did not belong within the society that maintains us. That I would be outcasted from it.
I haven’t been diagnosed yet but I am going through this process as I believe I am AuDHD. My son is autistic and because of him I have seen younger myself in a different light and have started to heal her.
Listening to your book made me cry, I felt such a connection to the words you were saying and for the first time in along time I felt seen. I’m not an alien I’m not a psychopath. I have a disability but that doesn’t mean that I’m not creative or unkind or unlovable.
I’m so glad you chose to redo the book as I don’t need tips and tricks to pretend to be normal. I need to hear that being a bit weird is normal. It’s okay that I can wash the clothes but I can’t put them away (let’s be honest there will always be clothes to put away) it’s ok that I have to abandon ship sometimes when we’re out because it’s just too much for me to cope with. I’m ok and I will be ok.
So yeah, thank you.
