Summary

If she could make it through her first semester without killing anyone...that'd be great.

San Francisco Bay Coven has been torn apart and no one feels this more than Mika Marshall. Kenzie Kavanagh exposed her father and brother's betrayal.

So Mika is starting at the University of Morgana a semester late and praying to the Fates that she'll be able to catch up and graduate with her class. But as a witch with an undeclared specialty she's trying not to bring too much attention to herself.

Because Mika has a secret and if she doesn't learn to control her powers, people will die.

This is a slow burn reverse harem academy series. All paranormal books by Emma Dean exist in the same world - the Council of Paranormals.

Paranormal Academy RH

Interesting start of series, great character building. Witches, Shifters, Hunters, and demons. Short, but lays the foundation to what could be a great academy series.

A wicked great listen

Book 1 in the series. The author Emma knows how to get the readers attention. She takes a fantastic outlook to her paranormal stories and gives them twists and turns. Her characters are strong , daring , and some lighthearted. Both hero and heroine learn to rely on each other to resolve a dark issue.
Her heroine Mika a witch needs to resolve something that is haunting her from her past and is stopping her from using her full powers .
The story ends on a cliffhanger and boy what an ending, it’s a mystery that is dark that Mika sees

Melissa Schwairy Performance was great . Her voice is smooth, strong and steady. Her tone for all the characters was spot on .

The First of Many exciting Instalments!

This was the first book by Emma Dean I had listened to, and I definately want more! it was an interesting story that sucked me in from the beginning and kept me hanging on for more, full of intrigue and suspense and exciting characters. Mika makes a great heroine, determined to keep her distance from everyone to 'protect her secret', but the friends she unintentially makes are irresistable along with the amazing array of romantic interests, 'why choose' indeed! This was a great first instalment, I'm hooked and can't wait to start the next book.

Great start to the series!

This is the first book in what is shaping up to be another fantastic RH/WC series in the Council of Paranormal Universe.

I really enjoyed the characters, the story, the narration.

This is a Why Choose series meaning there are multiple potential partners and the MC doesnt have to choose just 1! This is also slow-burn meaning things are pretty tame in this book, especially compared to the authors other works. This is also a series, so this book has a serious cliffy... I might have vertigo still...

While you can start here and understand the series, as there is enough basic recap, some of the history and backstory is the main story in the series that starts with What the Fox (fantastic series though a much faster burn). This means if you haven't read that series this one contains spoilers for that one.

There is talk of the MC being sexually assaulted in the past, just as another character in the last series was. It is a thing that happened and affects her but she does not relive the actual assualt in detail in this book. She is mentally hurt and seems to be healing from it during the book. I believe the author approaches it very well.

Soooooo good!

I loved this shory. The characters are great and they have a lot of emotional growing to do, which I loved. they aren't perfect characters, they have flaws and I am excited to see them grow and become stronger. Also the narrator was great! I cannot wait until the next books come out on audio!

Wow

What a start to a series, this started out strong and has just kept going. I really have enjoyed meeting all the characters and the narrator has helped with the different voices to distinguish them all. This is a great book with plenty of chemistry but also a nice steady slow burn. With that cliff ending I can’t wait to dive into the next one
