Summary

Twenty-one years after the Battle of Endor, the New Republic will face an even darker enemy....

More than two decades after the heroes of the Rebel Alliance destroyed the Death Star and broke the power of the Emperor, the New Republic has struggled to maintain peace and prosperity among the peoples of the galaxy. But unrest has begun to spread and threatens to destroy the Republic’s tenuous reign.

Into this volatile atmosphere comes Nom Anor, a charismatic firebrand who heats passions to the boiling point, sowing seeds of dissent for his own dark motives. And as the Jedi and the Republic focus on internal struggles, a new threat surfaces from beyond the farthest reaches of the Outer Rim - an enemy bearing weapons and technology unlike anything New Republic scientists have ever seen.

Suddenly, Luke Skywalker; his wife, Mara; Han Solo; Leia Organa Solo; and Chewbacca - along with the Solo children - are thrust again into battle, to defend the freedom so many have fought and died for. But this time, the power of the Force itself may not be enough....

Good story

Way too short for the price charged.

Good story though, not canon.
You're in for a shock.

If you haven't read the book don't get this.

I read the books years ago thought this would be a nice little catch up but it's terrible if I hadn't read the book I would have been completely lost.

after mark Thompson it's a hard listen. also feels too short with seemingly scenes missing. wish audible had the non abridged version. unfortunately this will be the last abridged book I buy not worth the time or full price for 25%

Disappointed

Just finished Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Vector Prime audiobook.

One of my favourite Star Wars novels, one of my favourite authors (Drizzt!), a usually solid narrator, probably my single favourite franchise...

It's not very good at all. Salvatore's novel has been utterly butchered, Heald's narration is jarring at best compared to the likes of Jonathan Davis and Marc Thompson and characters sound nothing like their counterparts. Even the big death scene felt rushed and anticlimactic. Very far removed from the original novel.

I was not expecting this at all. I much prefer audiobooks as I can listen whilst driving or walking - far more convenient than traditional books for my busy schedule. Right now I want to just go back to reading the old fashioned way.

This really was that bad. And Anthony Heald is a genuinely good narrator, R. A. Salvatore is a genuinely good author and this is a genuinely good story.
