interesting to hear the story I have read so often
I have owned a hard copy of this set of books for a number of years and have read each one numerous times. I always enjoy reading them. That being said, I do enjoy listening to these audiobook versions.
The story is adapted from the original but it does not particularly detract from the over all story. The performance is do everything very well as are the sound effects.
I would recommend this audiobook

Why does this series need abridgment?
This series needs to be unabridged. Too much detail is missing from these storylines. These audio versions do not do the actual stories justice, sure I like the effects and background that was added, but the lack of story depth counteracts that production. What a shame.

Abridgment and narrator leave a little to be desired
The narrators accents are muddled at best, perhaps on purpose, perhaps by accident, but it can make him difficult to follow at times. That being said it won't prevent me from getting other books in the series. I only wish they had produced an unabridged collection.

Hard listen for a 'core' Star Wars fan
What didn’t you like about Anthony Heald’s performance?
Everybody is an old man with this readers voice.
Any additional comments?
I have read all the books and looked forward to listening at work. The first three were rough with Henry Thomas; barley into book 4 and wishing they were done by Mr Thomas. Seems these books were read by whom ever would do the work. Fictional stories need to be done by those who can perform a miriad of voices. Christian Rummel, who narrated The Lost Fleet series, would be a great improvement. His ability made listening to a story I had never read/heard before, an amzing jorney.

So abridged you can't enjoy it.
Save your money/credit. I will just read the book again. I mean when you leave out entire plot points that matter later in the book and for that matter ALL of Star Wars Legends? Might as well not have abridged huh?
