About this listen
Twisted, unhinged, insane—all words used to describe Gage Presley by those closest to him. A pretty boy with a face that misleads you. He’s one of the deadliest members of The Family.
Five years ago, his possessiveness and insane jealousy over a girl unleashed his crazy and in the wake of his retaliation, he was given the choice: prison or the United States Marines.
The girl who owned his soul turned her back on him and left town without a goodbye. Shiloh Ellis became a name he never mentioned again.
When she walks back into Gage’s life, no one in The Family is happy about it, especially Gage. It’s clear they all loathe her, but she has no memory of them at all....

Loved this!
Audio review 🎧
This has been a fabulous listen. With more stories in the series, the characters become more intense and intriguing. The drama between Gage and Shiloh is sparked when she is assigned as his nurse... but there is a dramatic twist that sees a firestorm building. The Shiloh of today is not the same, and Gage has a hard time coming to terms with that.
I loved Shiloh. She is resilient and kind. Her struggles and internal conflicts make her so relatable. As for Gage. Heavens. He is definitely hot!
This audio was narrated by Corvin King and Allie Shae, and they are excellent! The flow of the dialogue, the expression of their voices combined to ensure that I fell into the story and didn't want to leave. I love being told a story, and they both did a fantastic job of bringing the plot and characters to life. 💖💖💖💖💖

This Story & Series is On❤️🔥Fire❤️🔥Amazing🎧📚
Abbi Glines blows me away with another awesome novel set in her amazing “Smoke” series and once I started it, I could not stop because I needed to know what happened next. This fourth book is Gage Presley and Shiloh Ellis’s story and wow, what a story it is, a dark romance full of drama, angst, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Shiloh’s father is the on-call doctor for the Hughes family and she is a nurse working in his office and her first out of office job is to help Gage while he is recovering from his injuries. The reception she received at the Hughes house was not a welcoming one, she and Gage have a history, one he remembers, one she doesn’t, and it is not a good history, so when she reappears in his life he is not happy about it, but she doesn’t know why. Calling Gage a hot-head would be an understatement, a man that is over the top with anger, rage and possessiveness, but he there is so much more to him, including loyalty and caring. Shiloh is just trying to build a new life, but she feels a deep attraction to Gage despite how he treated her. It was great to watch these to dance around each other, then get reacquainted, because it was clear Gage still had unresolved feelings for her too. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out in this book and, as always, the writing, plot, and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. It was also great to see the characters from the earlier books, and watching the dynamics between them all. Abbi Glines, thank you for another amazing story and wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Corvin King and Allie Shae were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. King nailed it as Gage, showcasing his personality to a tee, from his angst and alpha-tude to his possessiveness and caring side. Shae was just as amazing as Shiloh, grasping all sides of her personality, from her insecurities to strength and determination. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling each one. These two made a great narration team, their voices complemented each other and their performance elevated the already amazing story to another level. Thanks for another amazing listen.

Great listen!
Check TWs before reading/listening.
It's been years since I last read a book written by Glines (I was obsessed with Rosemary Beach/Too Far/Sea Breeze back in my Uni days), and picking up this audiobook was like a reintroduction to an old friend. Now, I'll start with saying that this is the first book in the Smoke series that I've read, and whilst it works well as a standalone, I do feel I would have gotten a lot more context about the wider world if I had read the others in the series.
The addition of amnesia into the narrative was a fantastic tool to give Shiloh and Gage their second chance, and has to be one of the most unique takes on the trope that I've read to date. The fact that the amnesia is present from the get go, and not used as a plot device deeper into the narrative, makes it even more unique. This is a story that focuses on romance featuring a character that happens to be in the mafia, as opposed to a mafia romance, and it was refreshing. I enjoyed listening to the journey of Gage's recovery and how hard (pardon the pun) it was for both him and Shiloh in part one.
The narration was spot on, bringing Shiloh and Gage to life. Shae is a new to me narrator, and I really enjoyed the emotion and almost softer side she brings to Shiloh. She injects all the feelings into her narration, and I have to say she is the perfect casting choice for this role. King... oh man, I *devour* anything this man narrates. The rasp to his voice, the emotions he brings to Gage's words and character, just... everything. I won't lie, I signed up for this review copy purely because he was narrating and I was not disappointed in any way. These two narrators together? Sheer perfection. I could listen to them working together all day.

Gage is magic!
Hearing Gage come alive with sound was just phenomenal!
Five years ago, Gage and Shiloh were having a toxic relation. Shiloh was an immature teenager who loved to twist Gage around, make him jealous and make him mad.
She then left, and he went from psycho to crazy and got sent to the Marines as the only way to keep him out of prison. He returns to Florida and joins Blaise Hughes and the family, and now he’s one of Blaise’s most effective soliders, but he is still crazy.
Gage ends up banged up from a fight in the Hughes complex and needs a nurse, and you guessed it, Shiloh comes into his sick room to take care of his wounds.
But she had a car accident two years ago and has amnesia, so she doesn’t remember Gage or anything that happened between them. She then moved to Ocala to work with her uncle Neil, physician to the Southern Mafia lead by the Hughes family. She has no knowledge of how she had hurt him before her accident, she has the softest voice that drives Gage crazy. He is so angry with her and it is fabulous to hear the anger in his voice and the softness of hers, with her not understanding what she has done!
And this is when a lovely story of second chances and redemption starts reawakening the strong bond they used to have, minus the toxic element, well the odd bit of toxic seeps in with look backs. So well written..
I won’t spoil the story but they go through the ringer and the characters and story-line is amazing!
Hearing them come alive in sounds is amazing, I cannot wait to hear Trev's story next!

Unhinged in a good way
This is the first Abbi Glines book I’ve read, and it was so good. While this can be read as a standalone, I think I’d have had a better appreciation of the world if I’d started from the beginning.
This story was filled with so much angst. I loved it! Gage is the kind of unhinged MMC I didn’t know I needed in my life. I love reading that chaotic kind of love where she’s the only one who can tame him and he would do anything to keep her safe.
This book was on the lighter side of mafia and more about the romance. There was some mafia action that took place but it was in the later part of the book.
This was narrated in duet style by Corvin King and Alli Shae and they were phenomenal! Alli Shae is completely new to me, but I’ve listened to one other book by Corvin King. Both narrators put in an amazing performance. They embodied the main characters perfectly. Corvin King, with his deep, gravelly voice, plays the unhinged, protective Gage perfectly and Alli Shae is the perfect insecure, but determined Shiloh. They really brought out the emotions of the characters. Their non-verbal vocalizations were spot on.
This is a great book if you like mafia romance, flawed characters, possessive alpha males who will do anything to protect their woman and found family who is loyal to each other.
*I received a review copy from Sparksfly Studios and this is my honest review.

A gripping audiobook
Gage Presley, the dangerously unhinged member of The Family, comes alive in this intense audiobook. His possessiveness and obsession over Shiloh Ellis lead to a dark, twisted love story that's hard to put down. The narration by Corvin King and Allie Shae adds layers to the characters, with Gage's brooding intensity and Shiloh's vulnerability. The plot is a wild ride, filled with suspense, steamy moments, and emotional highs and lows. Shiloh’s memory loss adds an intriguing twist as they navigate their toxic relationship. The story is both captivating and unsettling, perfect for those who enjoy intense romance with a dark edge. A must-listen for fans of complex, flawed characters and gripping storytelling.
