Another Hit!

Gracie has lived a life of solitude since her grandparents passed away and she lives that way for a very specific reason, that is until one night The Defender, one third of a superhero trinity, crash lands in her backyard injured, weak and unable to use his powers so Gracie is forced to hide and nurse the absolute grumpy back to health and the story goes from there.

This is so different from Marianas other works, yet it is quintessentially her throughout. The mix of the classic Zapata snark, banter, and slow burn with the fantasy/superhero elements really worked here and made this an instant favourite for me. Both Gracie & Alex are complex characters who I just adored, I wanted to wrap Gracie up in a hug and make sure everything was OK for her & Alex is a sarcastic grump who only softens for her and I am a sucker for that. The pacing was great, there was enough going on outside of the relationship between Gracie & Alex developing to keep the story moving forward and honestly I just really love how this author writes her characters and how the dynamics between them grow and change as she develops the overall story. Callie Dalton and Connor Crais narrate the audiobook for this one. Callie is the voice of Zapatas books in my opinion and I think I would struggle to listen to any future ones without her as my love for these stories and Callies and performances are so intertwined now, Connor Crais deep rumbling tone felt perfect for Alex's gruff character and both of their performances were fantastic! Another absolute hit from this author for me. 🌶

Excellent story line

I loved the super hero theme it was funny and sad but overall an awesome read. The narrator’s were amazing especially the guy he had an amazing voice and did the part justice, the lady however was good to but not sounding as good as the man.

slow burn romance in superhero verse

I loved this book, possibly more so in audio format. I thought the performers did an excellent job. it was sweet and funny, perhaps just a little slow at the start, but please please MZ, can we have more books from this verse?

Love love this!

Another thoroughly enjoyable slow-burn from Mariana Zapata. This was funny, sweet, great banter and just gave me all the feels. For an almost-20 hr listen, the worst thing for me is that it ended. Looking forward to listening to this again and more books from Mariana Zapata.
