Critic reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

learnt a lot!

It doesn't give you much time to answer when it prompts you to, repeats may be necessary

Excellent way to build your Swedish language skills

This system perfectly drip feeds the information so you are able to build a great foundation, without feeling like you are having to try at all hard. The pressure of learning is squarely on the 'teacher' and not you.

Similar to the Michel Thomas technique, just without the other students in the class (which I often find distracting anyway).

Highly recommended. Straight on to the next series of lessons.

Very good format for learning conversational Swedish

The Pimsleur technique is excellent for building up your conversational language. I knew nothing at the beginning but through repetition of each unit (usually 2-3 times) I’ve been able to memorise everything. It builds up your vocabulary and knowledge of word order to such an extent that you are able to use the same words differently to say different things. Your pronunciation is excellent as you are focussed on how you sound so you avoid speaking with your native accent. My one criticism is that learning with this technique doesn’t help you read or write the Swedish language. I’m moving on to the next unit however and will try other tools to help me learn the alphabet and different letter sounds later.

Not a bad course

Like any of the language courses, you get out what you put in, it's not easy but the course takes a slow easy learning approach. Follow the plan and you'll start to learn. The course tends to provide a sentence, and then breaks down all the words in the sentence, and the pronunciations for the words. As I mentioned in the title, not a bad course and I'd recommend it to help supplement Swedish learning.

Worth every penny!

Each unit is easy to understand and is great for listening to in the car. With each unit I can hear myself getting more and more confident in speaking and understanding what is being said. I am heading to Sweden next month and cannot wait to try talking in Swedish!

Good but brief

Good material. Well paced for a beginner but only five thirty minute lessons (and a thirty minute introduction).

It works!!!

This Pimsleur method WORKS - short 30 minutes bursts of lessons.

The lessons build and progress each time rather than just jump to new topics which really solidifies the knowledge.

Paul Noble audio language courses really compliment these Pimsleur courses.

You can do this completely on the move as there’s no book to follow along with nor do you need pen/paper or in fact anything - just listen and absorb and most of all ENJOY!

Go on - you won’t be disappointed.

Good

Good programme to start out. Focuses on speaking, understanding and forming basic sentences, but doesn't go over spelling or grammar.

Great clarity

Everything is really clearly set out so you are suddenly constructing sentences and with the rhythms of speech there for you to copy.
