Fantastic storytelling, entertaining characters

It was a pleasant surprise. Did not expect it to be as funny and engaging as it was.

Love the story, painful accent

Struggling a bit with the narration of this, if the narrator could pick one ‘northern’ accent and stick with it, it would be less painful. Am trying to make it to Zale and see how they are done. Nope could not do it

Lovely story, but felt a bit jumbled in parts

The narration was great for me, but the characters sometimes act out of character which really took me out of it.

So good

It flows, the characters are awesome and the story kept me hooked. Such an enjoyable listen, I'd highly recommend.

A fun journey once it gets rolling

Read the book and picked up the audiobook to share it with my partner.

The initial chapters are loaded with unpleasant characters, so you're hit with the narrator's 'worst' voices out the gate. Reviews claiming that Sarkis' accent jumps around aren't baseless, but by the end there's a consistent voice for the main cast.

This book is good fun where I find the start a bit of the drag but really enjoy the latter half -- Brindle and Zale are my stand-out favourite characters. Halla and Sarkis are fun and charming in their own ways but can feel a bit repetitive.

Recommended, but I'd maybe suggest any newcomers to T Kingfisher's fantasy romances try out Paladin's Grace first! (Certainly second!)

Loved this book

Great story with enough turns to keep you listening. Good characters, with depth, even felt fondly about about some of them, which is hilarious & one in particular, but not telling who, Great ending too! Another great story from T!

Great writing, but can't cope with the accents.

Sadly I've had to stop listening. I've been really enjoying the author's books and was excited for another, but as good as the narrator is at bringing the main female character and her family to life, I just can't cope with the main male. I am Scottish, and find myself wincing every time I hear the attempt at the accent. It slips between comical Scottish, Eastern European and occasionally Northern English. I'm sad to miss out on the rest of the story as I like the premise and what I heard so far, but every time I hear the 'Scot', Sarkis, I am taken right out of the story and can't enjoy it.

Sword heart

I wasn’t sure what I would make of this audiobook at first, but it grew on me as i enjoyed listening to it. Both the story and the reader have done a superb job and I now look forward to the next one. This is the 3rd book I have enjoyed by this author 🙂

Awesome narration, good story, a bit too romancy

The narrator is amazing: Sarkis' northern accent is fabulous, and the bird is one of the most hilarious things I've ever heard.
Unfortunately the story was disappointing, or rather the characters. They're both way too insecure for 40 year olds and we're given way too much time with their navel gazing. This is an attempt to increase romantic tension but doesn't work because to readers there's no suspense regarding what the respective other one is feeling, which means that to us the characters just look weepy and contrivedly dense. 15 year olds angst in old bodies that should know better. Bottom line, too much sappy, bodice ripper romance in my adventure novel. I wish the romance didn't overtake the plot so much.
BUT there was no point I wanted to put the book down and not come back. I wanted to know how it ends and I'd listen to the next installment. In fact I hope there is a next installment and we get to see the other swords.
