Summary

The Fen country in the autumn of 1850 is dank and drab. A young woman, Catherine Greencliffe, comes from the other end of England to care for a small child who has been abandoned by his mother.

On the surface all seems well, but she soon becomes prey to mysterious compulsions and visions. She comes to realize that Southwell Hall holds a secret that she is not invited to share and, at last, makes a dreadful discovery.

Ghost story at its best

I loved this book it had everything I love about ghost stories. Gothic, atmospheric and full of suspense. The author knows how to make feel those ghostly chills. The narrator was brilliant and was perfect for this book..

Not What I Expected....but still good!

I loved the idea of this book and the very suddle ghost encounters. The narration was fine, but some of the voices, like the Master guy, sounded like someone from an anime show or something. Other than those voices, the narration was good. Wish there was more to the end of the story, felt I was just left hanging. Plus I'm very confused as to how the title works into the book, it's very odd. None, I still enjoyed!
