Brought to you by Penguin.

The twisty thriller from the Sunday Times best-selling author of The Rumour.

Scarlett's aunt lived—and was brutally murdered—in the apartment upstairs. But Scarlett is determined that life return to some kind of normal, even if that means living with just a ceiling between her and the scene of this devastating crime. After all, this is her home. She's safe here. Isn't she?

Dee is busy balancing her job as a funeral director with organising an event to mark the disappearance of her best friend, 10 years ago. So she's got enough on her plate without worrying about the threatening messages that are appearing on her company's Facebook page.

When Scarlett approaches Dee about planning her aunt's funeral, there emerges an unexpected link between them. Together, the two women could uncover secrets that have long been buried. Even while someone wants to stop them digging....

A bit of a disappointment

Especially after the summary write up, which makes the book seem much more exciting. Actually it was a bit dull and I often found my attention wondering off and not listening. Didn't really grip me at all.

Overall good

A good book but maybe not quite a favourite, interesting and different careers of the main characters.

Another great read

I have loved every book by this author, and this book was no different. The cast of characters are credible and well developed . The location is well drawn. The story moves along at a good pace. I read this in a day, and now can't wait for her next book to sea whether we are staying in London or going back to the seaside.

Appalling book - do not bother

The story is so far fetched - spoiler alert - both protagonists are 40 year old closeted lesbians who happen to be sleeping with murderers?! Honestly there isn’t a single person close to either protagonist who isn’t some form of criminal! Bonkers

VERY SLOW AND NOT VERY THRILLING

Unfortunately I was left very disappointed by this book. The idea really caught my attention and I was expecting to absolutely love it. However, I found it very slow and not particularly gripping or thrilling. I kept listening as I was hoping the pace would pick up or that something would happen that would really capture my attention, but sadly it did not.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a terrible book. I think I have read/listened to so many thrillers now that I expect great things and I'm always on the look out for an author to blow me away with a new idea or event.
I'd rate it 2.5 🌟-possibly a 3🌟 so it's definitely one I wouldn't DNF but for me, there was just something missing x

Unrealistic

It’s a poor thriller and it is annoying that other than the predictable murderers who both happen to be men, the big reveal is…that the main two protagonists are lesbians who didn’t know it. The characters seem to speak as though they’re 20’s aristocrats yet they live in Woolwich which is full of gang warfare. No way would these women get on a bus there at night.
