About this listen
One of Time’s 10 most important nonfiction books of the 20th century.
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne.
In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.
The Autobiography of Malcolm X stands as the definitive statement of a movement and a man whose work was never completed but whose message is timeless. It is essential for anyone who wants to understand the African American experience and America as a whole.

Wow.
Extremely powerfully performed, really takes you on a vivid journey. Although I had read it before this is a book we must read and reread again. Never has it been more relevant than today.

Interesting story
Interesting story and interesting that human behavior overall is impacting and hindering progress and moving forward.
Laurence Fishburne is the 100000% correct choice to tell the story - it feels like (without having heard Malcolm's voice) Malcomlm is telling the story himself.

A prescient book
Laurence Fishburne reading The Autobiography of Malcolm X. No words can truly do this justice. The book and the narration. A masterpiece. A book that will be as pertinent to the West's social issues for an eternity. Fishburne's narration is second to none. Genuinely the greatest audiobook ever made. I sincerely hope those who purchase this book take heed in what Malcolm is saying, for it is as true today as it was half a century ago.

Full of hatred throughout
A little knowledge and a lot of emotion is a dangerous combination. Once it’s multiples with notions of ethnicity, race, culture and religion and it can generate any kind of circus. The same circus in this Malcom-x’s life was very negative and bleak seen though lenses of hatred mostly. Nonetheless, it’s the same circus that brings to attention some neglected areas that need society’s attention and in his case it was racism in America nearly a century ago. However again the way he chose to address it is matchless and not healthy by any possible parameters.

Interesting
I've listened to this book a few times and always find there is something new to learn from the life of Malcolm X. The biggest take away is how open minded he was to change and his honesty to himself and those around him. He may have lived a short life in terms of years but his life was very informative.
