Summary

There is little more terrifying than those who hunt, stalk, and snatch their prey under the cloak of darkness. These hunters search not for animals, but for the touch, taste, and empowerment of human flesh. They are cannibals, vampires, and monsters, and they walk among us.

These serial killers are not mythical beasts with horns and shaggy hair. They are people living among society, going about their day-to-day activities until nightfall. They are the Dennis Rader's, the fathers, husbands, church-going members of the community.

This A-Z encyclopedia of 150 serial killers is the ideal reference audiobook. Included are the most famous true crime serial killers, like Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Richard Ramirez, and not to mention the women who kill, such as Aileen Wuornos, and Martha Rendell. There are also lesser known serial killers, covering many countries around the world, so broad is the range.

Each of the serial killer files includes information on when and how they killed the victims, the background of each killer, or the suspects in some cases, such as the Zodiac killer, their trials and punishments. For some there are chilling quotes by the killers themselves. The Big Book of Serial Killers is an easy-to-follow collection of information on the world's most heinous murderers.

Deliberate Timewaster

This could have been such a good and interesting book, but it just annoyed me more and more as time went on and I had to stop listening to it because it was driving me mad!!!
I bought a book boasting 17 hours and 36 minutes playtime but the author or publisher has sadly used really irritation and ( my opinion only ) underhand tactics to extended the length of a shorter book, there are gaps between the chapter's that are so long I kept thinking me timer was up, then it would pop into life again!! But by far the most annoying thing is that the list of each killers victims is repeated twice for some unaccountable reason, perhaps they believe the listener has short term memory loss!!
My view is that I would have preferred to spend my money on a book that doesn't waste my time like this, there are much better books out there that don't use these tactics to sell themselves, use your money or credit to buy one of those instead.

Awful

It’s literally a reference book 😩 serious error of judgement by me, it’s robot talk too.

Not good

Really not impressed with this book. The guy narrating sounds so robotic and boring. His tone stays the same throughout. This is the type of book you are really going to benefit from reading rather than listening to. Will be returning

Struggled with the monotone voice

I'm sure as a book this is an interesting read, as an audiobook however it's hard going. The book is read by someone who clearly is just doing his job, he lacks any emotional connection to the subject matter and is dull. Clearly he made an effort with the pronunciation of the Chinese locations yet didn't bother to learn how to pronounce Gloucestershire or other English locations making it gratingly poor to listen to.

Lovely book!

Me and my partner always listen to audible books for 30mins each night to fall asleep to.. weird option for it I know.. but we both have a strong interest in serial killers and how they tick! We found it pleasantly easy to fall asleep to.. I guess it was the readers voice?

Awful, avoid

Like other reviewers, I discovered this ebook to be completely misleading; it’s just a list of facts and victims, dates and useless irrelevant rubbish, no insight or reflection whatsoever.
Waste of time and credit.

Very interesting

Very interesting book. Wish the narrator had learned to pronounce English place names properly ("Shire" is prnounces "sheer").
Some of the facts presented are very questionable.
I wish they didn't list the name of every victim (twice!). Got tedious when Dr Harold Shipman came up (with his 250 victims).
Probably won't listen again.
