About this listen

Welcome to the Darkmoon Night Market, where the magic and mystery are electric.

Cursed witch Jolene’s only remaining power is the ability to speak to animals. When a baker drops dead during a royal competition, she teams up with her cute cop boyfriend and his sassy, lie-sniffing canine to serve up the killer.

But the stakes are raised as Jolene ties the case to a missing politician, a fiendish crime boss, and a flock of shifters trapped in their animal forms. As she uses her magic to sniff out the suspects, Jolene’s own life is put on the line. Luckily, she’s got a bunch of powerful new friends with ties to the palace on her side.

Will it be enough for Jolene to catch the killer and stop the crime boss with a twisted mission? Or will she lose the last of her powers...and her life?

The Big Fang Theory is the delightfully thrilling conclusion to the Magic Market Mysteries (with a crossover treat for fans of the author’s Spells & Caramels series). If you like talking animal sidekicks, delicious riddles and cheeky female leads, then you’ll love Erin Johnson’s charming tale.

Explosive end to the series

Oh wow, I loved this book. I didn't think this series could get any better but combining two excellent series into one was just pure genius. I have listened to both the spells and caramels series and the magic market too, so I know all the characters very well and love them all and I found it just a great for it to come full circle. The spells series starts with a murder at the royal baking competition so for this one to end with it , nicely combines the two. Okay where to start with this review? So much happened. First I think I have to mention the characters, even if you haven't met them from the spells series (and why not?) the author gives you enough information for you to like them but not enough that if you know them you are board. All the characters are unique and quirky and on so love able from the talking police dog that sniffs out lies, to the the joke telling flame. Despite having already written about a murder at a cooking contest this one is just as much fun and very different from the first. Although it is a side story there is still plenty of suspects and I like it's inclusion to the story. I also really the way the suspects try to lie around Daisy and they skirt around the truth. Okay on to the story that has been running thought the whole series, I loved the conclusion but I am not going to spoil it by telling you if Jolene breaks her curse.
Jolene and her friends need help taking down Ludolf Caterwaul the leader of the under ground shifters once and for all. For years he has been testing on shifters and trying to cure himself from what he sees as his curse. But to do this they need powerful allies, in the form of the royal couple. Getting close to them isn't easy, until they host a competition to find the next royal baker. Before Jolene can even utter a word to the royal couple and a contestant dies. Now Jolene and Peter have to solve a murder, get an audience with the royal couple, take down Ludolf who has the police and judges in his pocket, help there shifter friends who are stuck in there animal form and maybe just maybe get Jolene's magic power back. It's all in a day's work for the pet psychic!
I love the narrator and she is one of my preferred narrator's. She doesn't just do excellent voices but also uses sound effects so you the full experience of the book and can immerse yourself in the adventure.

loved it.

This was a brilliant conclusion to the series.
I am sad to see the team wrapped up, but am looking forward to whatever Erin might go on to do.
The narration was as always brilliant.
