About this listen

FBI agent Kate O'Hare and charming con man Nicholas Fox race against time to uncover a buried train filled with Nazi gold in this thrilling adventure in the 'romantic and gripping' (Good Housekeeping) Fox and O'Hare series from the number-one New York Times best-selling author Janet Evanovich.

Straight as an arrow special agent Kate O'Hare and international con man Nick Fox have brought down some of the biggest criminals out there. But now they face their most dangerous foe yet-a vast, shadowy international organisation known only as the Brotherhood.

Directly descended from the Vatican Bank priests who served Hitler during World War II, the Brotherhood is on a frantic search for a lost train loaded with $30 billion in Nazi gold, untouched for over 75 years somewhere in the mountains of Eastern Europe.

Kate and Nick know that there is only one man who can find the fortune and bring down the Brotherhood - the same man who taught Nick everything he knows - his father, Quentin. As the stakes get higher, they must also rely on Kate's own father, Jake, who shares his daughter's grit and stubbornness. Too bad they can never agree on anything.

From a remote monastery in the Swiss Alps to the lawless desert of the Western Sahara, Kate, Nick, and the two men who made them who they are today must crisscross the world in a desperate scramble to stop their deadliest foe in the biggest adventure of their lives.

Much better!

Much better than book 6 but still missing a lot from the first 5 books, There's no con, there's not much banter and most of all Boyd and the rest are missing. still, a good book to read, and I hope the next one will be out soon.

A bit too much Indiana Jones and less of Ocean 11

I *love* the Fox and O'Hare coupling but in this case it shows how much the usual side figures add color to the stories. Evanovich chose to focus on the adventure storyline rather than on the caper storyline and as a result the humor moments are few and far between. I do hope that in future installments the focus will return on the con jobs, for for the other stories we have Wilbur Smith.

BTW Scott Brick's narration was sublime, as always.

Better than the last one

The first few in the series were great fun books until the first one without Lee Goldberg, which was awful.
This one though is better, still not up to earlier standards but as long as you take it for what it is, fun fiction and not in any way realistic, then it’s a good way to pass a few hours.

Too serious

A good story but way too serious compared to the rest of this series.
Defiantly missing the other characters from the previous books, and missing the light hearted banter between the characters.
But we’ll written as usual from Janet.

No sparkle

This has none of Janet’s wit and sparkle. Even the characters were nothing special. To be frank, it was boring. It’s the last Fox and O’Hare novel that I’ll buy. If you want shoot outs and chases maybe you’ll enjoy it but I was so disappointed.
