About this listen

A New York Times best-seller!

There may only be one killer, but no one is innocent in this new young adult thriller from Natasha Preston, author of The Cellar, a New York Times best-seller, and Awake.

They think they're invincible.

They think they can do and say whatever they want.

They think there are no consequences.

They've left me no choice.

It's time for them to pay for their sins.

A weekend partying at a remote cabin is just what Mackenzie needs. She can't wait to let loose with her friends. But a crazy night of fun leaves two of them dead-murdered.

With no signs of a forced entry or struggle, suspicion turns to the five survivors. Someone isn't telling the truth. And Mackenzie's first mistake? Assuming the killing is over....

Had the suspect figured out way too fast.

I found this book when I was looking for books in the horror/thriller category, which I hadn't read yet. I thought it was going to be one of those where they're trapped in the cabin once they get there, and people die. What I got was a surprise, but I still kept reading. I understand they are teens, and there's a lot of teen language and thoughts in this book, as well as actions, and there were times I was really frustrated with McKenzie. Way too trusting, and in my view, foolish. Not sure about the romance plot in with a murder mystery though. I hung on to one suspect all the way through the book, and I did feel a little smug when I was proved right. No matter what false trail Preston through at me, I stayed with my convictions, and they paid off. I've read a lot of this style of book, and I've always learned that in 99 cases out of 100, what the author lets us see, is never the right answer to the twist. I wouldn't read it again, but it was certainly something different from what I was expecting. Narration was very good as well.

Brilliant until the end

I LOVE Natasha's writing. From Silence onwards. The Cabin is no exception, but the end was very unsatisfying. Natasha, if you ever read these reviews. Please don't ever leave such an ending again. 😩😟😒😱
