Story
In the twentieth century Earth sent probes, transmissions and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy.

Udo's biggest problem isn't being a digger (that's low class), or staying drunk (that's damn expensive), or avoiding the Dwergaz (they're monsters), or even pissing off the supposed Gods. It's that his reality...well, it isn't what he thought. And now, he can't even afford to drink because his so-called friend Nicz is cutting into his business, digging up tin, iron, and copper. So Udo forms a new plan: clay. After all, clay jars are used to store everything: meat, herbs, and, his personal favorite, ale.

Great Short
A great intro to Malcolm and sets this up perfectly for the children of titan series that has became so popular.
RC Bray perfectly suits the worn space hunter archetype and makes a great short or for those who want a taster before the titan series.

"Creation without boundaries."
Meet Malcolm Graves and his young daughter, Aria.
Malcolm Graves is a Collector. He 'collects' people - a bounty hunter of the future - working for Parvenio Corps. He's cynical, sardonic, good at what he does and he's looking for a young man, heir to a fortune, who ran away from home. With this one he is going to make a lot of money as long as he can get him first, and alive.
A prequel to the marvellous Titanborn, this book has everything for the science fiction detective fan: beautifully written, visually atmospheric, great colourful characters three dimensionally drawn, excitement, mystery and humour. So easy to read, the words slide past effortlessly leaving perfect pictures in the mind. Great fun and one not easily forgotten. Highly recommended: buy, read, enjoy...

OK, but unsympathetic main character
R C Bray's narration for Malcolm is very flat and I didn't enjoy it as much as some of his other performances.
I have listened to book one in the main series and, like that, this is OK, but Malcolm isn't a very sympathetic character.
Glad I didn't pay extra for it, but it passed the time.

A Well Written Short Story
I needed a quick and interesting book while vacationing and I found it with The Collector. Bruno does a great job of both character and world building in the limited number of pages in this book. We’re first introduced to “the collector” and we find a little bit about him and his mission.
Once into the mission we’re quickly shown around the world and introduced to some of the main points in future Children of Titan novels. His missions is to basically capture someone who has run away. What he ends up finding is much darker than that.
It’s hard to write long-winded reviews of short stories – but just know, if you’re a fan of good science fiction, Bruno, or RC Bray – you’ll enjoy The Collector.

The Collector is another great short in the Children of Titan series! This gives a little side story about Malcolm Graves, the collector. After listening to this, I understood a short conversation Malcolm had in book 3. Definitely an excellent addition to the series! As always, Mr Bray does a fantastic job with the narration!

Awesome book, great narration, quick listen
What a great quick story to just chill & listen. The narrator takes this somewhat monotone narration which, at first I was unsure about but after I listened for a few minutes I realized how perfect it was for the character. The story itself is very intriguing as well. A great listen indeed.
