About this listen

The year is 2023.

The world's power grids have been destroyed by a Carrington-level solar storm. Humanity is plunged into a new and savage dark age, pushed to the brink of extinction by famine, disease, and social unrest, and preyed upon further by demonic forces.

Desperate survivors turn to a divided Catholic church in search of hope. On one side there is the church of Rome. On the other, a rival papacy set up in Avignon, France. Wishing to heal the schism, but fearing that a powerful evil has infiltrated the highest ranks of the Avignon leadership, Rome sends a lone representative to assess the situation in France.

And also to cut down any heretics he finds along the way.

Exorcist Ossian McGregor, armed with the holy sword Grand Inquisitor, sets out to Avignon on a crusade with the intention to follow the stream of demonic activity to its fountainhead.

But the evil he finds far exceeds even his wildest imaginings.

The year is 2023. Welcome to Hell on Earth.

An amazing end times book with a holy sword. Cool

We have a world changing event throwing us back to the dark ages. We have a true believer. We have a Holy sword. And Demons are real. Do I really need to say any more? This is a cool book. It's action filled. There's lots of horror in here that gives you both thrills and chills. It's a hell on earth ride that you really don't want to miss. If you like the genre or if you like the synopsis of the book you really wont be disappointed. It's well written. In fact I really should say that it's well crafted. To top that off we have a narrator that really does horror well. What a voice for this book. I think you found the perfect narrator in fact! The tone, pace, and just the way he wields his words draw you into the atmosphere of the book. An excellent package!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Absorbing and Addictive

I begged to be given the opportunity to review this book. Ambrose Ibsen is an exceptionally eloquent writer of dark, deeply disturbing tales. Jake Urry has a voice for terror. His tone, pitch and articulation make even the most mundane meanderings terrifying. Give him a story composed by the wondrous wordsmith Mr Ibsen and you have all the ingredients for a horror fest that will frighten and petrify the most laid back of listeners. This is a book full of descriptive torture techniques and the inhumanity of man to man. I devoured this audio book in one straight session, unable to turn it off and tear myself away. On many occasions I gasped aloud, put my hand to my mouth and felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Audible should sell The Conqueror Worm with a warning; not for the easily frightened or those with a nervous disposition. Fortunately, I enjoy being scared witless, resulting in a 5 star reward for both writer and narrator. If you're a fan of this genre, don't miss out, you must buy this one. Just don't listen in the dead of night. You have been warned!!!
