What a lovely story!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was well written and well narrated, easy listening with just enough ‘what’s going to happen next’ to keep you listening. And as someone of the same age as the ‘elderly’ man in the story, born around the same time, I was with him all the way!
Heartily recommended.

Caroline does it again!
This is the 4th Caroline Overington book I've listened to in a row and each one has been a five star listen. As well as this title, I also recommend Ghost Child, Sisters of Mercy and I called to say Goodbye. I am gobsmacked and thankful that these amazing books are currently free in the Audible Plus Catalogue. What a treat to find a new author with a good back catalogue of work to enjoy and for free too! Thank you Audible.

A cuckoo in the nest.
Great short story being under 5 hours.
This is not my favourite genre as I can’t help but pick holes in the plots of these type book. I do however appreciate this genre does need a bit of artistic license and bending of rules to make a good story.
So, with that said I can go with the plot holes in the plot, as the the whole was definitely better than the sum of it’s parts .
Nice narration by Aimee Horne.

Easy listen
This is the second book I’ve listened to by this author and so far, so good. The first one was ‘I Came To Say Goodbye’ which was quite a tough listen but excellent. This book was more light hearted but still great. I’m now off to start the next book by this author.

Great as a freebie
A decent enough story, very easy and uncomplicated to listen to.Could have done with a few more twists and turns here and there, but enjoyable nonetheless. The narration by Aimee Horne was excellent and kept the story interesting. I would certainly look out for other books with her as the narrator. If you're looking for a simple thriller/mystery to pass a few hours I'd recommend giving it a listen.

Fast paced and gripping
Right from the get go, the reader will know something isn’t quite right with this character.
I was gripped and needed to know what the twist would be, which I was very surprised at.
Shorter audiobook than I’d normally go for but I really enjoyed this.
The characters were good, I was getting worked up by his daughter in the book and felt frustration right until nearer the end.
I really enjoyed this

Loved it !
If something grips me from the get-go I know I’m in trouble ie I’ll listen to the neglect of all else!
The characters in this are so believable. The narrator gives perfect pitch to each and every one of them. It actually sounded like there were 4 or 5 people narrating this!
Storyline is brilliant I fell in love with Don …. and found myself rooting for Morgan .. rightly or wrongly.
The daughter had appropriate jealousy and I felt her emotions..,, plus the confusion of whether or not that same jealousy was causing her to be paranoid. All in all highly recommend

cracking listen
As with all Caroline Overington's books, this was a wonderful read. set during the first Covid lockdown the story is about family, heartache and elderly loneliness. The narrator is perfect too.

For fans of Liane Moriaty
Great little story. Very much in the same vein as Liane Moriaty. Wonderful characters that you actually care about and set in a crazy, hazy time we can all relate to.
