A different but interesting story

This is the 2nd book I’ve read from this author. I found this story really interesting & there was a good depth to the characters. Worth a read. I enjoyed the Australian narration.

Well narrated, decent lockdown story

I have listened to/read several of CO's novels, many of which deal with really difficult topics and can be challenging. By comparison this felt very lightweight, but perhaps that is intentional given it is set within the Covid lockdown period.
The story is quite simple, and a bit repetitive in parts. Well narrated and easy to listen to while walking the dog.
The last 20 minutes or so seemed largely pointless to me - overexplaining the pretty simple hoax.
It is in the Plus Catalogue so I will recommend it on that basis - I wouldn't be spending a credit on something this short.

Good character observation and surprise ending

Sometimes too much detail. But then you have to hide the plot somewhere. It didn’t go where I thought it would which is always a rewarding

Quite engaging

A good story in the main albeit a tad far fetched at the end. Good narration and enjoyable read.

Loved it !

If something grips me from the get-go I know I’m in trouble ie I’ll listen to the neglect of all else!
The characters in this are so believable. The narrator gives perfect pitch to each and every one of them. It actually sounded like there were 4 or 5 people narrating this!
Storyline is brilliant I fell in love with Don …. and found myself rooting for Morgan .. rightly or wrongly.
The daughter had appropriate jealousy and I felt her emotions..,, plus the confusion of whether or not that same jealousy was causing her to be paranoid. All in all highly recommend

cracking listen

As with all Caroline Overington's books, this was a wonderful read. set during the first Covid lockdown the story is about family, heartache and elderly loneliness. The narrator is perfect too.

For fans of Liane Moriaty

Great little story. Very much in the same vein as Liane Moriaty. Wonderful characters that you actually care about and set in a crazy, hazy time we can all relate to.
