Summary

Poe's just hanging around on a Saturday afternoon....

Dangling from a hook in a meat packing plant isn't how Detective Sergeant Washington Poe wants to spend his weekend. He's been punched and kicked and threatened, and when a contract killer arrives, it seems things are about to go from bad to worse. He goes by the name of the Pale Man, and he and his straight-edged razor have been feared all over London for 20 years.

But Poe knows two things the Pale Man doesn't. Although it might seem like a hopeless situation, Poe has planned to be here all along. More importantly, a nerdy computer whizz-kid called Tilly Bradshaw is watching his back. And now things are about to get interesting....

Not the Strongest

I have read & listened to quite a few M W Craven books, however this was the weakest one so far. I’m sorry to say that the narration was not the best and the storyline was rather contrived and unrealistic.

AI written?

listened to all the other books in this series and this novella sounds like it has been written by AI. Wooden by comparison

Not worth a listen

Not worth a credit. Disappointing considering the brilliant series

Audible should consider a refund of the credit

Short story not worth a credit, hammily read

As this popped us as ‘next in series’ I happily used a credit - what a con, it’s a short story! Also the usually brilliant narrator read it in the most wooden way , got sick of hearing you are / I will etc instead of you’ve / I’ll - which is character Tilly’s way of speaking, but I’m this one it’s been applied to every character! So disappointed.

Not worth a credit

I used a credit on this book as it was shown on Audible to be the next in the series and I've listened in order to the previous Washington Poe books. I was surprised that it was so short, so flimsy and so unlike any of the ones that have preceded it. Very disappointed.

What happened to this series?

I was so disappointed reading this short story.
Had I read the reviews and seen that it's only 2 hrs long I wouldn't have wasted a credit.
If you're thinking you need to listen to this just in case you miss something out, you won't. This is more like a fan fiction wrote by an eager fan of the author than a proper Poe book.
There is hardly anything in this story and my brain blanked out 90% of it, it was so boring.

Short yarn

Really liked previous mw craven books, this one is much less sophisticated. As usual, enjoyable - a story cut mercifully short!
