About this listen

A mother and her son have been executed in their home and fingerprint matches show their attacker died 20 years ago.

When CSI Darby McCormick is called to the crime scene, it’s one of the most gruesome she’s ever seen. But the forensic evidence is even more disturbing: someone watched the murder unfold – and the killer died in a shoot-out two decades earlier.

The deeper Darby digs, the more horrors come to light. Her prime suspect is revealed as a serial killer on an enormous scale, with a past that’s even more shocking than his crimes. Is it possible to steal an identity? Or are dead men walking in Darby’s footsteps? The line between the living and the dead has never been finer.

More complex and darker than the usual in this genre.m

An interesting listen. Outside of the normal range of thriller novels. Not all the good guys are good n our heroine is a bit Gung Ho! I must admit to cheering her on but some of the events portrayed are shocking and probably closer to home that's is comfortable. Worth a listen !

Entertaining and Fast Paced

Starts with an action sequence and keeps going at speed. The first book I've heard by this author but I'll certainly look for more. I'll also look for more books by this narrator - she is outstanding. I always find a good narrator makes a good book even better whilst a bad one can put me off no matter the quality of the writing.

Excellent crime thriller

A great book with a lot of engaging characters. The women are not frustrating weaklings. instead the women take risks and get going! I usually really enjoy Michael Connelly. This is up to the same standard.

Good listening novel.

I enjoyed the book further in, but the intros' and characters, especially the two main female characters in the book, became a little confusing for me. my perception became blurred between the two and I did not (somewhere toward the end of the book), know which character was which. The narrator read well and could carry the story well. I only 'four stared' the book because of character confusion otherwise it would have been a five.
