Editor reviews
Mötley Crüe is one of the most notorious rock bands to ever ravage the earth. Their on-stage antics and backstage scandals are among the wildest in rock folklore. In their outrageous, not-for-the-faint-hearted autobiography The Dirt, the band tells those stories from their own perspective, resulting in a saga that will stay with you like the ringing in your ears after an unforgettable gig.
Cassandra Campbell and Fred Berman have won a trove of awards for their acclaimed narration and they join Sebastian York, broadcast journalist Roger Wayne and New York Times best-selling author Erin Hunter to form an elite narrative team to take you through the highs and lows of rock stardom.
Summary
Now a Netflix original movie starring Machine Gun Kelly, Daniel Webber, Douglas Booth, and Iwan Rheon, directed by Jeff Tremaine.
Celebrate over 30 years of the world's most notorious rock band with the audiobook edition of The Dirt - the outrageous, legendary, no-holds-barred autobiography of Mötley Crüe.
Fans have gotten glimpses into the band's crazy world of backstage scandals, celebrity love affairs, roller-coaster drug addictions, and immortal music in Mötley Crüe books like Tommyland and The Heroin Diaries, but now the full spectrum of sin and success by Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, and Mick Mars is an open book in The Dirt.
Joe Levy at Rolling Stone calls The Dirt "without a doubt...the most detailed account of the awesome pleasures and perils of rock & roll stardom I have ever read. It is completely compelling and utterly revolting."

Thoroughly gritty
The voice acting is excellent and the whole story is put together in such a great way with chapters intersplicing accounts from individual band members, managers and others. It’s put together similar to the NOFX biography but the stories are far, far more outrageous and extreme.

The Dirt
Not even sure why I bought this book. I've never listened to any of their music, but had heard of the band and Tommy Lee, so thought it might be an interesting listen.
The story from start to finish was absolutely compelling and an incredible insight into the background of the band members and their rock and roll lifestyle. The decadence and drug taking along with other outrageous behaviour makes this such an incredible listen.
I'm pretty open minded about life and I was often shocked by how crazy these guys were.
Hope you enjoy the listen and buckle up for the ride!

what a rush!
where to start? i grew up on Motley Crüe, i discovered them quite by accident when i was 11 years old. im almost 43. i 1st heard them on pirate radio when i wss visiting my friend, we were in his room listening to a pirate radio station his older brother broadcast a rock & metal show. He played shout at the devil & bastard. I had never heard anything like it. i was hooked. Reading this book has been immensely enjoyable. I'm amazed any of them are still alive! Their highs, lows, mistakes, tragedies are so vivid especially the death of Skylar Neill & hiw painful that had to have been. i think their appeal apart from the music is that they packed so much into their lives that we're secretly just a little bit jealous. My one regret is i never got to see them play live but thats a minor thing. I read the book & the Netflix show is largely through to the book but it can't hold a candle to the book. Do yourself a faviur even if you're not a fan, have a listen to their material, read the book. You haven't partied till you've partied like Motley Crüe. Thanks for the memories guys, you really were (are) one in a million. 🤘
