Summary

She gave you everything. But what does she want in return?

When Lizzie's daughter, Meg, is given a life-saving heart transplant, Lizzie feels hugely grateful to the nameless donor. Then, she receives a letter from the donor's mother, Karen, asking to meet, and it seems like the least she can do.

But as soon as Karen is welcomed into their lives, Lizzie feels something isn't right. And before long, she can't help but worry that by inviting Karen in, she might have put Meg in danger....

It was ok

I didn't realise this was a short book, or I would not have wasted 1 of my credits on it.

The story was ok. The characters not very endearing. It all felt a bit false and forced.

It looked as though it was obvious what was happening.

The ending was good.

Brilliant

This has been one of those books you couldn't wait to listen too. The narrator did a great job and the story was gripping. Would make a great film. I recommend this book for sure. 👍

Too short

Although it was a thought provoking subject I found it predictable. The writing was uninspiring & simply too short to get the reader involved.

Excellent story but so short

It was worth a credit but this story could have been so much longer. Clare Mackintosh is great - the story line is unexpected and brilliant.

Gripping

I didn't realise at first how short this book was, but I I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book tells the story of a couple whose daughter has a heart condition and receives a heart from a teenage boy who dies in a bike accident. Or does she? I can't give the storyline away. The ending wraps it up nicely. Short but worth the credit.

short and... disturbing!

Every parent should listen to this story again and again. At first I was annoyed I had "wasted" a credit on buying this book, but despite its brevity the message was right there between the eyes and ears. I listened to it again and again. the story has a place on every sort of fictional (hopefully) category. Brava Clare, great job reading Lisa. Thank you.

Enjoyable but too short!

A good story line which could have been drawn out a bit more. The story was very short and probably not worth the use of a credit. Had potential though and a good twist at the end, just wish it was longer!
