About this listen

Josiah Foxglove is given a second chance when he takes over his family's spread in the shadow of the Snowy Range. A veteran of the Gulf War, he came back broken in body and spirit.

Marcus Colton buried his long-time lover and best friend three years ago. Lonely and still grieving, Marcus finds solace in protecting Petilune, a pretty girl with learning difficulties, who will surely become a victim of abuse and neglect without his help. But that doesn't help him get through the long, dark nights.

When violence wracks the small community of Centurion, WY, it's easy to place blame on Petilune's mysterious new boyfriend, Ojibwe teen Kit Golden Eagle. It looks open and shut, but for Josiah and Marcus the facts simply don't add up.

Something's rotten in Centurion, something that smacks of a hate crime....

Intriguing mystery and a beautiful romance

I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written story, so much so, I listened to it again straight away.

I love Nya’s prose and story-telling style. It was great to see a romance develop between two older, imperfect men. Both were lonely and suffering, and their relationship was beautifully shown through their words and actions. I also enjoyed how they worked together in an unofficial investigation into Petilune’s mysterious boyfriend, her wayward brothers, and the strange yet violent goings-on in the town.

Great narration, appropriate voices and characterization from Nick J. Russon as always.

Excellent

Brilliant narration. Nick J Russo gives a stellar performance. The mystery was interesting and not all neatly tied up by the last page. I adored both MCs but especially Josh. Loved that they were both older characters. Highly Recommended.

as great as the ebooks

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Nick J Russo is one of the top 5 narrators for me, I can listen without break and have no problems to follow.
I'm just not yet finish with the book, just over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

So very good, Entertaining listening,

Where does The Eagle and the Fox rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I found I really enjoyed the story, characters, everything, where would I rate this audible amongst my other audible books, I would put it in the 10. I've have a lot in my library,

What does Nick J. Russo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Nick J Russo he was amazing with each character, also drew me into the story, as his voice is just calming,

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I could and listen in one sitting I would have done, as it was I really didn't want to leave alone, but if I could have listened in one sitting. Oh yes I would have done, I will definitely be listening again.

Any additional comments?

Fantastic story, very entertaining, I enjoyed how the characters were so very well written, loved Josiah an veteran character became a wonderful person, once he started healing his spirit,
Marcus has had a horrible story about loss, enjoyed him healing as well. But trouble come to the small community.
What a fantastic story. Loved it.

Not for me

Not quite sure what to really write about this, I couldn’t finish listening to this, I found the story boring but I am not sure if it was because of the narrator or the actual story, I normally love listening to Nick J Russo but just not this time. I might read the book and edit at a later date.
Listen to a sample first is my recommendation as we all hear things differently.
