Funny and thought provoking.

There are 9 short stories in this collection. As they vary in length between 3 and 14 minutes, there’s no time for flowery descriptions. We jump right in there and meet the protagonists, there’s a whip crack as the plot escalates, then a twist in the tale and it’s over. You stand smiling with eyebrows raised, on the other side of the story, bemused that it’s over so soon.

A couple of tales have the classic ‘bait and switch’ ‘it’s not what you thought it was’ type ending (don’t worry, no spoilers here) and that’s always good for a shocker ending if done well, which this is. The rest are more thought provoking, and the scope of the ideas continues to expand beyond the story’s end. You’ll find yourself thinking about them later.

As other reviewers have noted, at just over an hour in total, it’s a very short listen. But don’t let that deter you. The content is carefully distilled, so every word is to be savoured. Highly recommended.

Predictable and dull.

A collection of 9 short stories. I'm presuming they were supposed to be clever, with a 'big reveal' at the end, but I guessed the outcome of 4 of them and a couple were just stupid. Nowhere near as entertaining as his other books.

Incredible writing & great narration!

These stories are jaw-droppingly good. I enjoyed every second and had to stop listening after each story to take in and process what had just happened! I’ve already recommended this book to everyone I know.

Exquisitely different and unexpected

Each of these stories is a little gem. I was often wrong footed with unexpected endings. An exquisite experience

Great stories but not many!

very redolent of twighlight zone, interesting twists and characters, but the series ended sooner than I wanted.

Great collection …. but oh so short

Hmm ..,. I have mixed views on this !
Quality of stories great and entertaining with good narration …. 5 stars for both of those … up to the standard of all of Andy Weir’s other books …. all of which I have read or listened to.
But with only just over 1 hour of listening in total I think this is shockingly poor value for money … regardless of the quality of the actual stories.
