Summary
A killer walks among the rich and powerful. Who can the Magebreakers trust? Someone is killing the non-magical members of Senate houses - those who might one day be named Protector of the Realm. And that same someone is leaving behind messages for the Magebreakers beside symbols of the shadowy organization known as the Knights of the Emperor.
Under suspicion from the constabulary, Tane and Kadka are drawn into the investigation to prove their innocence. What they find is that Audish politics are as dangerous as any Porthaven back alley. Suddenly, they're surrounded by the most powerful figures in the realm, everyone with a different agenda. Light, amusing and perfect pairing of author and narrator.
I’m thoroughly enjoying these stories. They are way to listen to but just engaging enough to keep me absorbed whilst busy doing other things.

Short, obvious but enjoyable
I enjoyed this book but a brain teaser it is not.
the main chars are fun, the world is interesting but this needed a lot more meat to the story

A good sequel
Stumbled across the first in the series by accident, I do think it had the better story but that is often the way, perhaps as you have fewer preconceived expectations. Would have liked a touch more development of established characters but the story was compelling and all in all a nice bit of light listening in a well constructed world, if you liked the first one I am sure you will enjoy this too.
