Summary

Ready or not, here he comes.... He plays the oldest children's game in the world, hide and seek. Only the Eye Collector plays it to death. It's the same each time. A woman's body is found with a ticking stopwatch clutched in her dead hand. A distraught father must find his child before the boy suffocates - and the killer takes his left eye.

Alexander Zorbach, a washed-up cop turned journalist, has reported all three of the Eye Collector's murders. But this is different. His wallet has been found next to the corpse and now he's a suspect. The Eye Collector wants Zorbach to play.

Zorbach has exactly 45 hours, seven minutes to save a little boy's life. And the countdown has started....

Please note this audio is recorded in reverse order as per the print book. It starts with Epilogue, and finishes at Chapter One.

Scary!

This German author has a knack - he keeps you guessing all the way and the end - too scary.

doesn’t work unless you revisit the “beginning” after the end

Think the author was trying to be too clever with this book by adding a loop to the story and taking the reader to the end at th
e “beginning”. It’s a shame because the story itself was good, as was the narrator but,’in my opinion, the convoluted way it was presented, spoiled the effect of what is revealed throughout the chapters. Just trying to be a little less clever in presentation would have resulted an a much more enjoyable read

The storyline was good and kept you guessing.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Gruesome

Any additional comments?

Do not want to put too much as would ruin the story for others

very entertaining

I downloaded this as an included book with the Audible subscription and did not expect too much. The whole thing is a pleasant surprise, the narrator is good and the story is well thought out. Especially like the blind psychic and the twist at the end. overall a compelling book .

A wonderful gripping book, kept me guessing till the end. I really hop there are more books featuring these characters. Fast becoming my new favourite author.

Not Sebastian Fitzek's best.

What did you like best about The Eye Collector? What did you like least?

Good performance but i got a bit fed up with the story. Parts were confusing, other parts rather formulaic. Started off enjoying it but lost interest as it went.

Would you be willing to try another book from Sebastian Fitzek? Why or why not?

Possibly. I've read some very good ones (The Child, Splinter, and especially the audio drama Amok) But a couple of others weren't as good.

Which character – as performed by Paul Shearer – was your favourite?

None stood out.

Was The Eye Collector worth the listening time?

Just about. Largely due to narrator.

Good old Thriller

I got sucked in to Sebastian Fitzek from listening to the Child. I ravished my Audible credits to collect book after book.
I enjoy his style & the Eye collector is a Fitzek classic!
With his now predictable gift at ratcheting up the tension the book is a race against time to capture a serial killer with our heroes being the unlikely pairing of an ex police negotiator & a blind woman who may be more than she seems.
I always think I know exactly what's going on in Fitzeks books but the end always amazes me! I never finger the right person as the killer but enjoy trying!
I recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the Child or Amok!! You won't be dissatisfied!!
