Summary

One night, two crimes. A grisly murder. A vicious sex attack.

DS Ewan Striker is the best detective on the force. Unconventional and uncompromising, he is respected and feared in equal amounts. Tag Westland is a rookie. A rich boy who has realised that being a cop is not as glamorous as he first thought. In fact, he has his resignation in his pocket.

These two unlikely crime fighters are thrown together as it becomes apparent that each of their investigations are inextricably linked to something even more evil: a major terrorist attack.

Really well put together listen

I discovered Robert White through his Rick Fuller books. I loved those and the narrator Nicholas Camm who brings a world weary feel to the narration.
This is not a Rick Fuller book. It is still a wonderful listen. The characters are well defined and the plot moves on at a pace. It has an unexpected ending ( at least to me) and has a marvellous cameo that really made my day.
Obviously I enjoyed it and absolutely recommend it. Once again, top marks to Nicholas Camm!

Worlds are linked!

I enjoyed this story and always enjoy Camm’s narration even if he has a limited number of different voices! It was good to see old characters from the past rise again to help. The twists at the end rounded the story off.

Great story, very graphic, racism at its worst

If swearing and extreme racism offend you to the core then don’t listen to this. Its a great story but very sad and extreme. Its good at putting both sides of the unrest.
The narration is fine, dont listen to the earlier reviews about it being rubbish.
It maybe an idea to have different narrators though for different books as I thought I was listening to a rick fuller book to begin with.
It was good to have Des as the link though and those littles threads made it interesting.
Great book and I will be reading the others!

hard to get into at first...

I didn't like the first few chapters explaining and illustrating the horrors of riots - I've lived through some.
I think it may have been to explain the history but I found it boring.

Once that was covered I enjoyed the story and the characters. I also cried a bit at the loss of a good guy 😕

The narrator was fine with a decent northern accent

The Delivery

Once again a taut & gritty tale from Bob and delivered like an edge of the seat roller coaster of a ride by Nick. What a double act ! More please gentlemen !
