Critic reviews

"What a fantastic ending. What a tremendous achievement. A gorgeous, borderline flawless trilogy." (Seanan McGuire)

"Told in an enchanting, confessional first-person, we're with koli all the way." (Daily Mail)

"Marvellously expansive and claustrophobically menacing." (Publishers Weekly)

Immersive and captivating

Having just finished listening to the final instalment of the Koli trilogy all I can do is encourage you to listen. One of the best written trilogies - perfectly balanced and paced.

This final chapter completes the threads that have been woven throughout.

Narration adds to the experience

the final book in a really great trilogy

really loved this trilogy, and although I guessed a few things correctly througout this final book it didn't spoil my enjoyment at all. I've loved every M R Carey book I've listened to.

The sad fall of koli

A sad ending to a wonderful trilogy and adventures of Koli - all good things must come to an end, but I didn’t want it to.

Brilliant

I’ve read this trilogy once and listened to it twice. I think it is brilliant. I have loved M R Cary’s books, especially The Girl with all the Gifts, the Boy on the Bridge and Fellside, for a time, but I now think Koli is my favourite. Thank you Mr Carey, as well as Theo Solomon for his sensitive reading.

The perfect ending to a perfect story.

I'm so filled with gratitude right now. certain books make you feel like that at the end; gratitude for having found something that makes you so filled with emotions, deep and complex, that you cry. not necessarily out of sadness (no spoiler as to the emotional tone of the end) but simply because you are so filled up with emotions that it has to come out somehow.

I'm sure others will leave reviews talking about plot and characters, so I'll leave it at the emotional impact this had on me. But I will say that it has a very very competent ending that ties up everything nicely and makes everything that leads up to it meaningful and finished. No dangling pointless sidetracks. The perfect bow on a perfect gift to literature. thank you, M. R. Carey. thank you.

So sorry it’s finished

I couldn’t wait to hear more, but didn’t want it to end. I love it’s a British book citing the British isles. The play on words were fantastic and the narration was brilliant. I’m worried it can be topped, every bit as good as girl with all the gifts. No leaning towards sex to get it through the story. I absolutely loved it start to end. X

perfect

There is little more to say than that one word. Perfect. Captivating, emotional and a beautifully told story that had me from the first line.

A great story very well told

I really enjoyed this trilogy. Great characters set in a marvellous fast paced action packed future. If you enjoyed ‘The girl with all the gifts’ you should will enjoy this as well.
