Summary

“Welcome to the family,” Nina Winchester says as I shake her elegant, manicured hand. I smile politely, gazing around the marble hallway. Working here is my last chance to start fresh. I can pretend to be whoever I like. But I’ll soon learn that the Winchesters’ secrets are far more dangerous than my own....

Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor.

I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband, Andrew, seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband.

I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late.

But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am.

They don’t know what I’m capable of....

sensational

This is an author to follow absolutely unputdownable, a word I see used often but not by me. Loved the characters even the baddie a some points. Just one of those books you don't Want to end. If I have nothing good to say about a book I say nothing at all I mean everyone has to make a living but when a book rates high with me I like to rate. This book and author done just that.

4 1/2 out of 5

Every now and then I discover an outstanding author.
The Housemaid is perfectly written, with twists and turns that leave you feeling like you are on a rollercoaster at the funfair.
Such believable characters who you invest in from the first page.
Just buy this book, it's frankly brilliant.
Thankfully Freida McFadden has written quite a few books and I for one can't wait to read them ALL!

The Housemaid

5 ⭐️
Really good story. I literally could not put this one down. Ex-con gets a job as a Housemaid for a family with one child, a 9 year old girl. You don't know why she was in prison, but she has trouble getting and keeping a job. She is living in her car when she gets the job as the live-in house keeper. The family is extremely wealthy, but her room is a former closet and the door lock is on the outside. The wife is bitchy and unpredictable and the husband is gorgeous and understanding. The 9 year old is a spoiled brat. All is not well in this house.
I highly recommend this audio recording!

You’ve heard this story before

Spoiler alert if you’ve read ‘The last Mrs Parrish’ this book is extremely similar. It’s almost as if it was intentionally copied there were so many things in common. That being said, ‘The last Mrs Parrish’ is my favorite book, so I still enjoyed hearing a different take on the clever story. It’s definitely worth the listen.

Read this NOW!

AMAZING BOOK! I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. I did not know what I was getting into when I started reading but from that jaw dropping first chapter, I knew I was in for a whirlwind. I love that I still didn’t know anything after part one ended… or part 2 for that matter. It kept surprising me. I couldn’t recommend the book more.

Nope

This was ridiculous from start to finish. Like she had to use every cliche she could think about.

The maid is beyond stupid. Don't need to hear her inner dialogue about keep a phone screen on. She did that a lot.

The story is laughable. The revenge scale was a little off. You lock someone in the attic for couple days and that means he should be murdered. The ending was beyond belief.

You get they story from the maids view. Then you get Nina's. It definitely could have been done in half the time.

Plot Convenientls and Contrivances Abound

Horrible characters doing horrible things and somehow getting away with it all. Abandon logic and rationality with this one.
