About this listen
84-year old Physician, Research Scientist and champion cyclist Dr Norman Lazarus wants us to take control of our own futures....
In his first audiobook, The Lazarus Strategy, Norman will inspire listeners to embrace the coming years with equal measures of optimism and determination; celebrating the good news of his research - that staying active is scientifically proven to keep the body young and healthy and stave off age-related diseases. His lifestyle blueprint will show us that the positive changes we can make now are both simple and easily actionable but have the power to help us reap the rewards in later life and enjoy an independent and productive old age.
Written with wit and rigour, this is part how-to/part manifesto drawing on Dr Lazarus' many years in medicine, on the stories of patients and on his own experience and research - to show us that ageing is not a disease, unless we let it become so.

Pleasantly surprised.
Usually I think excercise diet books are quack but this is kind, grounded and reasonable. My only issue is the graphs described did not have an obvious pdf/link that we could see. I’m sure it’d be clearer in printed form but would be good to have the resources as an appendix

Fantastic! Lots to learn from this book.
Sound and achievable advice without any preaching. This is an excellent book that has given me a pathway to make healthy lifestyle and diet changes.
Good narrator but a few clunky overdubs.

Sensible Advice
This is aimed at 50-75-year-olds. It has made me stop and think, and have a 'life-change' moment. His central tenet is the 'trinity' of Eating properly, exercising, and being happy. To be fair you could regard ome of the adivce as common sense, but given the mess we are in as a species perhaps it needs to be said. I listened to it on a long car journey from start to finish and will dip in again.
The author has made several videos and TV appearances so you can get a flavour of what he is saying by looking at those.

Excellent
Probably wasted on the young, but really helpful, inspirational in fact, for this somewhat older codger. Beautifully read.
Essentially a personal story, but incorporating some additional voices and stories towards the end.
Thank you Norman!

A good listen
I really enjoyed listening to Norman while I was out walking 25 kilometers, I'm 49 and plan to take on board so much of what I've heard.

Predictable and slightly pompous
Largely predictable - said little that I didn’t know already. The delivery is slightly preachy and self-regarding.

Terrible
Old fashioned, out dated and not taking account of modern did science. I tried to keep going but the rude tone and meaningless platitudes grated too much at the half way point.
Ironic that he berates diet and food books, but has produced one with no guidance at all.
