Summary

The instant Sunday Times bestselling debut novel

This audiobook contains an exclusive Q&A between Sheila Atim and the author.

ONLINE RUMOURS. REAL LIFE TROUBLE.

Ola Olajide, a high-profile journalist, is marrying the love of her life in one month's time. Young, beautiful, successful – she and her fiancé Michael seem to have it all.

That is, until one morning when they both wake up to the same message:

‘Oh my god, have you seen The List?’

It began as a list of anonymous allegations about abusive men. Now it has been published online. Ola made her name breaking exactly this type of story. She would usually be the first to cover it, calling for the men to be fired. Except today, Michael’s name is on there.

With their future on the line, Ola gives Michael an ultimatum to prove his innocence by their wedding day, but will the truth of what happened change everything for both of them?

Loved it! Powerful, and thought provoking

Excellent storyline with very relatable characters brought to life by the superb performances. I listened while getting ready in the morning, on the way to work, in lunch breaks, on the way home and before bed. Couldn't get enough of it. Really uncomfortable at times because of the content but I'm not at all surprised that it'll be on our TVs soon. Well deserved. Highly recommended.

Thoroughly Enjoyed It

I knew Yomi Adegoke from 'Slay in Your Lane' so I was keen to read her debut novel without having the faintest idea what it was about. I don't even think I read the synopsis before downloading it. So 'The List' was a complete surprise and a great one!

I love Adegoke's writing as it flows so well, and I particularly enjoyed the feels and colours of the story which is set in South London, where I live. Arinzé Kene and Sheila Atim's performances really bring the story and characters to life; they were a joy to listen to.

Writing the story through the conflicting perspectives of the two protagonists was a stroke of genius as hearing both voices allows for a nuanced exploration of a very complex subject.

'The List' is definitely a 21st-century story and a pertinent look at how lives can be built and destroyed at the altar of social media. It also explores the concepts of intersectional feminism and redefining masculinity in a fast-moving world. I loved it and would wholeheartedly recommend it!

So Relatable and deep!

I loved that I didn’t know what was around each corner, and that it gave insight into so many different characters good and bad traits. Couldn’t put it down! Really deep and real and rich. I really recommend

Original and held my attention from start to finish.

Beautifully written, narrated and gives the listener/reader pause for thought. Well balanced and I appreciated that both victim and accused had their say. I really enjoyed this book.
