About this listen

A delightful new series set in a quaint old bookshop, for fans of Julia Quinn and Jenny Colgan.

Where happy ever after is only a page away

Once upon a time in a crumbling London bookshop, Posy Morland spent her life lost in the pages of her favourite romantic novels.

So when Bookend’s eccentric owner, Lavinia, dies and leaves the shop to Posy, she must put down her books and join the real world. Because Posy hasn’t just inherited an ailing business, but also the unwelcome attentions of Lavinia’s grandson, Sebastian, AKA The Rudest Man In London™.

Posy has a cunning plan and six months to transform Bookends into the bookshop of her dreams – if only Sebastian would leave her alone to get on with it. As Posy and her friends fight to save their beloved bookshop, Posy’s drawn into a battle of wills with Sebastian, about whom she’s started to have some rather feverish fantasies…

Like her favourite romantic heroines, will she get her happy ever after too?

Would recommend

An quick and pleasant read. Not much drama going on for the characters but it was funny as hell. Felt especially called out in a good way with the jokes about the tote bags because it was very much true!

Keep with it...

I really did not like Sebastian! he was a nasty, rude and overbearing man with no redeeming qualities!! I only kept with it as I liked the writing and the relationship dinamics between the characters. I loved Posy's love of literature...

keep with it though... you won't regret it. I enjoyed the book very much. and even Sebastian grew on me that I was rooting for him!! The book was realistic to life in the way that life doesn't always go your way.

And had a few laughs along the way. now off to purchase the next book...

Good fun but...

A fun listen but I wish I had read the book rather than listened to it. The narrator read the voices really well but she just made Sebastian sound too aggressive - yes he’s an annoying chap, but I would not have read him as aggressively shouting.

Lovely easy read

Enjoyed this book a lot. I skipped through the bits where Posy was writing her book as found it a bit daft but overall a good read.

Ok story but some mispronunciations

The story was fine , easy listening at bedtime.
What really irritated me was that the narrator couldn’t pronounce the names Georgette Heyer or Beau Brummell properly. It really jarred with me although the rest of her narration was fine. Surely someone at production should have picked that up!

Listened to it at every spare moment!

Might not be for everyone as the plot is not too deep but I really enjoyed this. Parts had me laughing out loud and totally emotional. Loved it. Just what I needed.
