Summary

The brilliant new psychological thriller from bestseller Valerie Keogh.

She’s in your home....

Leigh Simons can’t say for sure what made her do it. A moment of madness, perhaps, but when the young, loud and gorgeous waitress at her favorite coffee shop reveals she is homeless, Leigh offers her the empty room in her house.

In your head....

Gina is the perfect lodger; Leigh, lonely and frustrated with her life, becomes infatuated with the woman—her boldness, her zeal. If only Leigh could be more like Gina....

And missing without trace.

So when Leigh returns from a work trip she’s shocked to find Gina missing. Where could the young woman have gone...and why?

Leigh fears that something terrible has happened—why else would Gina leave her?

But as she sets out to find her missing lodger, what Leigh discovers changes everything she knows about Gina...and her own life, too.

Don't miss the brand new thriller by Valerie Keogh. Perfect for fans of Sue Watson, Shalini Boland and K.L. Slater.

Critic reviews

"A wonderful book, I can’t rate this one highly enough. If only there were ten stars, it’s that good. Valerie Keogh is a master story-teller, and this is a masterful performance." (Anita Waller, bestselling author)

What a journey....!

Well, where to begin.
This is my first experience of Valerie Keogh and I don't intend it to be my last.
What a fabulous roller coaster of a journey - one which although bizarre in parts was thoroughly enjoyable. .
I stayed awake at least TWO nights until the wee small hours to listen to another chapter, and then oh go on then, another chapter.
Some people might say that would never happen in reality / total escapism but then why do we watch anything on television or read any stories at all .... for escapism.
I loved it. I like the authors style of writing and the way the narrator, Rose Robinson delivered the story and bought each of the characters completely to life. Thank you both.
Now.... to choose my next VK!

A good listen

Although I enjoyed the majority of this book and I finished it all, i did struggle to connect fully with the main character. But it was a good story and i will listen to more from the author.

Yet another “page turner”. Why have I not read her before? Do yourself a favour, read this woman’s detective series and stand alone novels like this. Seasoned, who dunnit reader LOVED hearing this

Mostly very entertaining

I enjoyed the book very much and plan to read more of Valerie's output. The story was very far fetched especially towards the end. The Narrator did a good job but often said he instead of she. The editing needs some work. A flubbed line is repeated and the original mistake not removed. The Widow is a better book. But all in all I highly recommend.

AWFUL editing.

I’m not sure if the editor was having a bad day or there was no editing at all but the mistakes throughout the book were seriously distracting. Lots of half sentences that hadn’t been deleted and the narrator constantly misgendering the main character. The story was ok, a little rushed towards the end but the narrating/editing issue was terrible.
