I loved it!

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this author but it won’t be the last! Somehow I got attached to the main character even though she’s a murderer, 🤔 but as with all good thrillers, the end took me by surprise. Well written and nicely narrated.

Good storyline but some loose ends

I did enjoy the story. It was interesting and I’m still mulling it over.. It’s called the nurse but which one is it about?
I loved the plot twists and the twists and turns but just some of it wasn’t really tied up at the end. There was a death that felt it wasn’t really being investigated, else I’m sure they’d have found the killer.
There was a character who came in to visit who didn’t really add anything to the story, and didn’t need to be included really. Just for the protagonist to throw them out and let them know she wasn’t interested.
It’s a shame that there are these loose ends.
I liked that it wasn’t the story I thought it would be as it was a surprise. It definitely could have been longer as the ending felt a little rushed.
I would, however read or listen again as I think the story was very clever.
I’d still recommend it. The gaps have you ticking it over and hoping for a sequel.

brilliant

I like the fact the reader made it her own and put emotions into the story.

*Tense*

**3.5 Stars**

This started out so well for me then I added the audio and the narrator Rose Robinson did a great job.

Lissa McColl had what she thought were loving parents. All was well when her father was home and things changed when he had to travel for his work. He seemed to mean the world to her mother who just could not cope when he was away. Lissa had what she thought was unconventional looks which meant she was bullied at school for her over large mouth and nose. Lissa hated that feeling so she decided to do something about it…..

A few years later after the tragic news came that floored her mother which meant she was in put into a care home a nice one and she just stared into space continually and never spoke again. Lissa even though she was late teens stepped upto the plate. Then when her family solicitor makes a shocking revelation it meant that a situation developed that Lissa would take care of. All the way through I felt the tension until the end when she appears to meet her match which built and built.

As a nurse the term ‘do no harm’ may not of suited Lissa but it enabled her to watch and gain knowledge about the ones she despised…

Then the ending just fell a bit flat for me. I had decided that this would be a 4 star until the ending. Nevertheless it was still a good read and I had to finish it to see how it would end. In fact I went back and re-read the last few pages in case I missed something….

Fabulous

I don’t normally read fiction, but just a few paragraphs in I was hooked. Fantastic writing and the narrator was excellent. Looking forward to reading more of Valerie’s books.

Totally incorrect.

*SPOILER ALERT* Firstly, the main character. Lisa, when aged ten is the victim of bullying and a confusing upbringing leading her to a carefully planned murder. When a family tragedy occurs exposing her father as a bigamist, she eventually commits a second murder. From a psychological view she is obviously a psychopath or less probably a sociopath. However, the kindness and empathy she shows at times doesn't fit with that diagnosis which left me feeling a little confused as to what the author is trying to say.
It's a long tale and very boringly repetitive at times.

Disappointing

Ordered this book based on the cover and description thinking it would be nursing focused! My mistake but found this audiobook tedious. If you are after a medical/ nursing crime thriller then avoid!
