Summary

Take three friends, add two ex-lovers and several new ones, then mix with more secrets than any of them know - and the result is a recipe for explosive rivalries and incendiary romance.

Attorney Liz Ramsey thought she had everything - a devoted partner, a challenging job, and plans for a family in the making. Unfortunately her life takes a turn, and she ends up alone and in the kind of trouble she never dreamed of. Then she bumps into - literally - young surgeon Reilly Danvers, and life gets even more complicated.

Liz's two best friends offer all the support she needs, but they have secrets of their own. Candace Lory, a high-powered commodities trader and swinging playgirl, meets her match when she hooks up with corporate attorney Parker Jones. Brenda Beal, the only member of the group who hasn't slept with every available woman, prefers to fantasize about a perfect lover, especially if she's obedient and willing to do anything Bren orders. A surprise birthday outing and a dashing, dark-eyed submissive transform Bren's fantasies into reality and her dark secrets into delicious pleasures.

Friends and sometime lovers navigate new loves together

Three best friends, two former lovers, navigate their loving and sometimes complex relationships with each other. They are each also beginning tentative new relationships, in the shadows of previous failures, and their own insecurities . As well as a satisfying romance, Radclyffe creates a cast of interesting, very different characters, with psychological depth. Highly recommend.

Finished in a day

As usual a stellar performance by Abby Craden of a very good Radclyffe story. Liked the characters and the hours flew by my only complaint is that I would have liked a bit more.

would love to recommend, but

To use a railway analogy.. the scenery is pretty. The engine and cars are well made and looking good. The journey is progressing, the end is Almost in sight...

oops.. no more track! Fortunately the walk to the terminus is laid out, mostly.

I would not have written this review had I not been enjoying it so much..

A story about the power of friendship and love.

This is a really heartwarming and engaging tale about three friends, Liz, Bren and Candace.

The main focus of the story is Liz and her suddenly complicated life following the breakup of her relationship. However, Radclyffe treats the reader to three romances for the price of one as we follow Bren and Candance in their separate journeys towards self-awareness and possible happiness.

As always I loved Rafclyffe’s easy narrative style. She really is a talented story teller and gifted writer. The Lonely Heart’s Club is both comfortably predictable and surprisingI! t’s low on angst and high on emotion, with some very hot scenes for good measure.

Abby Craden’s narration was faultless, as always, bringing the characters and story vividly to life. This really is an enjoyable listen.

A decent story elevated by fantastic narration

It would be fair to say that most books are enhanced by the narration of Abby Craden. The story itself is a decent read, telling the story of Liz, the main focus, and her long time college friends Candace and Bren.

I'm not hugely familiar with Radclyffe's work so I don't have much to compare it with. She's obviously great at writing both sexual and romantic longing, and at writing stories that are more 'meaty' than just focusing on the romance.

What I particularly enjoyed about this book was the depiction of the friendship dynamic between the group. A solid book, with excellent narration.

Great characters and story, Abby Craden excellent as always. The ending is a but abrupt, definitely need a sequel.

despite the ending still five stars

even with being prepared by the ending from other reviews I still said wtf outloud when I heard the audible guy ending it. Quite alot that could have gone into a sequal but hasn't appeared which I'm gutted about. Still a fantastic book though.

Loved it

I have enjoyed the Author and loved her storylines and it makes the experience even better by Abby's narration. The best narrator out there and I feel she brought life to the wonderful characters that was so perfectly penned.

Dull

I’m not sure what I expected from this book. I had a vague idea it might be Radclyffe Hall, so there’d have been some historical UK setting that would have been interesting. In fact it was set in contemporary USA.

If you believe this book, lesbians in Philadelphia are all hotter than hell. I’m sure some are but all of them?

There are also only so many ways of expressing lust and desire and Radclyffe uses them all many, many times to the point where I just wanted it to stop.

I’m sure I’m not in this book's target audience but I do occasionally dip into something beyond my usual interests. In this case I’m sorry I did. At least it was only 8 hours long.

The narration was excellent though.
