Brilliant!

What did you like best about this story?

No author I know writes women like Fiona O'Brien. They are complex, flawed and have remarkable depth. Many are very likeable, all are so well drawn that the reader/listener can easily understand them. I have listened to all, but one, of O'Brien's books available on audible. I crave the next and dearly hope that her others will be published in audio format.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Caroline Lennon and Gerri Halligan are favourites of mine. They each invariably put in flawless performances. I haven't heard Jeff Harding before, but he was very good. I have returned a previous book narrated by Maggie Mash due entirely to her narration. Unfortunately, she tends to make every character sound at least 64. Here it was tolerable, since Diana (who she voiced) was 45 (not 30, as in the previous book), but it still jarred, although not as much as it did when she narrated some if the male characters. She made them sound abnormal. Its difficult to articulate what, specifically, was wrong with them. Was it the unatural inflections? Anyway, it was unpleasent, but not enough to put me off this fabulous book.
