About this listen

When the Supreme Being and his son decide that being supreme isn't for them anymore, it's inevitable that things get a bit of a shake-up.

It soon becomes apparent that our new owners, the Venturi brothers, have a very different perspective on all sorts of things. Take Good and Evil, for example. For them it's an outdated concept that never worked particularly well in the first place.

Unfortunately, the sudden disappearance of right and wrong, while welcomed by some, raises certain concerns amongst those still attached to the previous team's management style.

In particular there's one of the old gods who didn't move out with the others. A reclusive chap, he lives somewhere up north, and only a handful even believe in him.

But he's watching. And he really does need to know if you've been naughty or nice.

Back to his emessiarable best.

Enough twists and turns to make a roller coaster question which way is up. Thanks Mr H.

Loved it

I've listened to every Tom Holt book on audible, and can honestly say so am so sad to leave his world behind.
Funny, clever, loveable idiots and hero's, multiverse theory and god's who're like us ;) I'll miss his world almost as much as Terry Pratchett's.

Stunning storytelling by one of the very best.

One of Tom's best books to date, narrated exquisitely and rendered to perfection which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Great Fun

Just a joyous mishmashed romp through management speak and theology.

I was genuinely bereft when it finished.

Out of this World

Irreverent maybe. Not laugh out loud but funny. Classic twist of rolls. Holt pushes the bounderies to another realm. Loved it.

Hilarious, touching and superbly written

Tom Holt is the funniest writer in Britain who doesn't live in Gorseinon. I've been a fan for years, so please don't expect an objective review. The thing I like most about Tom's novels is the way he manages to throw the unexpected at you without breaking stride. It's not often a novellist can push all my buttons, but Tom does it with ease. If you like humour mixed with your Fantasy, give him a try. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Classic Tom Holt

I'd forgotten how much I like Tom Holt's books. This is definitely one of his best in my opinion.
If I had to criticise it at all, I'd say the ending seemed a little bit rushed. Other than that though, it's a great story with some proper laugh-out-loud moments.
Ray Sawyer's narration is a masterclass. Not only does each character have a clearly distinguishable voice, they each have a full range of emotions and it's easy to visualise them as the author describes them as opposed to one bloke dressed up as several people... If that makes sense?
