Summary

He was Ramses the Damned in ancient Egypt, but awoke in opulent Edwardian London as Dr. Ramsey, expert in Egyptology. He mixes with the aristocrats and samples their voluptuous lifestyle, but it is for his beloved, Cleopatra, that he longs, and will do anything to be with....

Fun but abridged

Michael York was a fun narrator and although I did enjoy the story overall I definitely felt like this was missing large chunks of the novel. But I had fun.

Great Story But Annoyed At The Omissions

I love this novel but unfortunately it is not available on Kindle in the UK so I bought this.
Hearing this, I would rather have it on Kindle.
While the omissions from the printed version are small, I know the book well enough that I noticed them and found it jarring, spoiling my enjoyment.
For those of you old enough (or young and cool enough) to have experience of vinyl records, it was like listening to a scratched record jump.
It would not have added much time to have recorded this novel as it was actually written and it would have been better, as some were quite poignant.
I notice someone else is complaining about the cuts on the review section - I'm glad it's not just me. I just wish I'd read their review before I bought it...

If you are not familiar with the book, you probably won't notice.
If you are familiar with the book, you almost certainly will.

entertaining

a Hammer House of Horror feel, very atmospheric. I read the book several times, excited for the Passion of Cleopatra.
