Summary
When Mrs. Ferrars, a wealthy widow, commits suicide a year after her abusive husband's demise, Dr. James Sheppard is called to certify the death. His unmarried sister Caroline, whom he lives with, speculates that Mrs. Ferrars poisoned her husband and has committed suicide out of remorse.
Roger Ackroyd, a wealthy widower and owner of Fernly Park, reveals to Dr. Sheppard that he had been engaged to Mrs. Ferrars for several months.
Later that day, he was found dead too.
That’s when Hercule Poirot is contacted to investigate.

A true classic, convincingly narrated
I couldn’t stop listening until the end! In this quintessential Christie, Poirot untangles a very tangled web of deceit, formed by a dozen or so characters, each one well-conveyed by the single narrator. (Yes, the misvocalisation of the French title abbreviation “M” for Monsieur was an unfortunate distraction, but the narration performance to me was otherwise very good.)

Great story, flawed narration
This is the most classic Christie story and a landmark piece of crime fiction. The narrator must, however, be computer generated. Throughout the story, M.Poirot is not spoken as Monsieur Poirot (in the way Mr. is spoken as Mister), but as Em Poirot. It makes for a very strange listening experience.
