Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

One woman is about to become the victim of her own success.

On the surface, Emily Atkinson has it all. A successful job, a luxury apartment in New York City and a glamorous life. But then she lands in the hospital with a double diagnosis.

She parties too much...and she's pregnant.

Her nurse and new friend, Betsey, helps Emily recuperate and rediscover morning runs in the park and quiet nights at home.

But as a series of women go missing, Emily's pregnancy becomes decidedly high-risk....

Will she live to see it through?

Critic reviews

Patterson knows where our deepest fears are buried... there's no stopping his imagination. (NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW)
No one gets this big without natural storytelling talent - which is what Jim has, in spades. (LEE CHILD, bestselling author of the Jack Reacher series)
Patterson boils a scene down to a single, telling detail, the element that defines a character or moves a plot along. It's what fires off the movie projector in the reader's mind. (MICHAEL CONNELLY)

Absolute Rubbish

Dreadful, poor story, nothing happened. Didn’t even care about the main character, in fact she annoyed me.
