'The women in this family, we're different....'
Blythe Connor doesn't want history to repeat itself.
Violet is her first child and she will give her daughter all the love she deserves. All the love that her own mother withheld.
But firstborns are never easy. And Violet is demanding and fretful. She never smiles. Soon Blythe believes she can do no right - that something's very wrong. Either with her daughter, or herself.
Her husband, Fox, says she's imagining it. But Violet's different with him. And he can't understand what Blythe suffered as a child. No one can.
Blythe wants to be a good mother. But what if that's not enough for Violet? Or her marriage? What if she can't see the darkness coming?
Mother and daughter. Angel or monster?
We don't get to choose our inheritance - or who we are....
The Push is an addictive, gripping and compulsive listen that asks what happens when women are not believed - and what if motherhood isn't everything you hoped for but everything you always feared?

wow
Brutally honest. About a mother's instincts entwined with her doubts. This is a very powerful read / listen. Highly recommended.

Mind blowing
A work of genius.
Riveting, disturbing and truly insightful.
It did leave me with a heavy heart, but that’s what life can do to us.

gripping beautiful story
The wonderful narration adds to the fantasticly well written story about how different types of parent child relationships can be beautiful and heart breaking and terrifying all at once. the story had me gripped from the first few words right to the last sentence.

A chilling story about the the bonds between mother and child. I finished it in two days! Dark and suspenseful. Can’t wait for another book from this author!

Gripping
I couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter after each one of this eerie tale finished.
The ending came too soon for my liking. That is my only criticism.

Wow!
Great story! It’s going to be one that sticks with me as the character development and topic are both just brilliant (and quite harrowing!)

Brilliant book but tough subject matter
What a book! A story of nature vs nurture, whether motherhood and also just naturally being a good person come naturally, or whether we can be the products of our upbringing and our family past. We meet Multiple generations of women of the same family - mostly told through the lens of Blythe, new mother - who all experience darkness.
This book is one where I exclaimed to myself out loud on many occasions. There were moments I felt I could barely keep listening (though there was no way I was going to stop listening) and I found myself listening to other parts and nodding my head (the first-time/new mum fog of tiredness and worries) but this is a dark, dark book, absolutely not for the faint hearted, or those in the headspace for such a topic. Would thoroughly recommend otherwise.

Amazing!
I can’t say enough good things about this book, starting with a beautifully accurate account of post natal depression and a new mother’s experience, it is both gripping and moving. There is such depth of character as the story looks back over generations of mother daughter relationships. There are no major twists but a slow burning sinister plot line. I finished this is 2 days and wish it lasted longer. Amazing book
